Tucson: The Life and Times of an American City

A bit dated now with newer research better outlining the history of the city. But it's a good place to start. (Try Devine's new book on Tucson, it's well done and debunks some of the old myths that have circulated for years.)

Having lived here since 1953 and worked in media all my professional life, I have nothing but HIGH PRAISE for Sonnichsen's flair of delivering HISTORY in a HIGHLY READABLE fashion! It is the BEST HISTORY of our area I have ever read~!!

This is a fine book about the history of the "Old Pueblo". Having taught Arizona, Southwestern and Mexican History at Pima College in Tucson I highly recommend this book to read and keep in your history library
