The name Manuel & The Music of the Mountains perhaps strikes up an image of a mysterious Mexican villager with a propensity to romanticise the possible goings on in distant God like mountain ranges. However you'd be quite wrong, for Manuel was in fact..... Geoff Love and from Yorkshire. Here Jasmine feature two of his albums, indeed the first two he recorded under his title of 'Manuel' and they are in glorious stereo and feature songs that are doused in Larin American, Spanish and Portuguese influences. Sit back and pour yourself a glass of sangria and be transported to warm climes with tempting tunes filled with strings, guitars and blissful relaxation.

THE PEAK OF LATIN-AMERICAN RHYTHMS
This compilation is a reissue of the first two of thirty albums recorded by Geoff Love under the pseudonym of Manuel and his Music of the Mountains. He was following in a long tradition, perhaps best epitomised by Geraldo & his Gaucho Tango Band, of donning a more exotic identity to identify his music. Like Gerald Bright, it was the South American rhythms in which Geoff Love specialised, and which are currently enjoying a resurgence of popularity thanks to the BBC programme “Strictly Come Dancing”. The difference being, as you can hear, that Manuel’s instrumentation is far better suited to the genre. Add to that the brilliant stereophonic sound quality and you have a sure-fire winner.

True stereo, true excellent and clear remastered work; It was so pleasant to hear these recordings and go to far away places in my imagination; I wish they're going to make more MANUEL albums on Jasmine records.

GREAT! GREAT! GREAT RELEASE!
This is edition is just great especially for the first album on it "The Music of The Mountains" (the first album released by Manuel) from 1960 which was released by Hallmark as well some time ago but their sound quality sucks.There are many other original album releases by Manuel on the Vocalion label (great sound also), let's hope that one day all his recordings will be available in top sound quality.
