Fun game for 4 y.o.
My 4 y.o. specifically asked for this for XMAS and she was thrilled to get it! The puppies are super cute, they have little names on their collars which she really loved AND it helps us keep track if any are missing and which one it is. She is too young to read the cards yet, but the booklet offers several variations on the game for non-readers. Mostly, we just hide them and do the whole "hotter/colder" thing and she LOVES it. So much so that we are relentlessly begged to play the game ALL the time! So upside? She LOVES it! Downside? She wants to play it ALL the time! The puppies seem pretty durable as our dog has gotten ahold of one or two of them on several occasions and we've yet to find a rip in the seams! :) So bottom line, really cute toy, manufactured well, and the kid has LOADS of fun with it!

Only 5 Puppies came with our game
Edit: I called the company and they are sending us the missing puppy!*************************Only 5 Puppies came with our game. It was missing the solid dark brown one.Aside from this it is a fun game for the entire family. There are ten game types in the rule book. Most of them are not very exciting or very slight variations of one game. Our favorite way to play is for each of us to hide one puppy at the same time. Part of the puppy must be visible when you walk by. Then we all search. The first person to find them all wins! It sounds dumb but is actually a lot of fun, even for the adults.I wish we had all six puppies so the entire family could play at the same time. I would return it and get one with all six puppies, but it was a gift and the kids wanted to play with it right away.

great indoor or outdoor fun!
This helps the kids to be creative, work together, take turns, and really think! It was great fun when we were all together over the holidays and we needed to provide fun for many nieces and nephews of all ages. The adults enjoyed hiding them and the kids finding them, until the kids caught on to how it was done - then the adults were eliminated from the game so the bigger kids could have lots of fun hiding the pups for the littler kids. It is a very cute game, good for boys and girls, and entertains them for a long time. The only negative may be that the pups may need cleaning after being hidden in dusty corners and held by so many hands.

Cute and captivating (surprisingly!)
We bought this game for our 7-yr old goddaughter and she played it for 5 hours straight after opening it. We didn't think it would be a hit but we were wrong! She was able to read the 60 cue cards for places the 6 puppies may be hidden and it helped to learn a few new words. We were at a party and every time a new person walked in the door they were the new finder of hidden puppies. Fortunately each adult only had to search once each. But the kids got so excited as you got closer to the hiding location that they began providing more clues and giggled immensely when you found each one. This was a hit and I highly recommend getting it!

lots of fun for adults and kids
My daughter loves this game - especially when we hide multiple puppies without her knowing, then leave the first clue where she will stumble across it. We get a kick out of trying to stump her, she likes tracking down the puppies.For younger kids you may need to be selective as to which clues to use as it could be frustrating if there is more than one place to look based on the clue: "look for me in the bathroom" could be on another floor in our house.This is an excellent guided game and good for social interaction between kids of different ages, where the older one is setting it up and the younger one is playing.

Sounded like fun but a bit disappointed
I was excited to get this game for my almost 3 year old to play with her 6 year old since they love hide and go seek so much. It is too complicated for my 6 year old to set up...so I have to do it (a minus already). We played like one game of it, and they didn't enjoy it really...and I don't feel like trying to figure out any of the other "ways to play". I guess it might be okay if I spent more time learning it...but I wasn't prepared for that and just am not interested, and since the girls can't do it together by themselves it just isn't getting used. I think it was way more expensive than what it's value is, should have been $10 or less.

Such a fun family game!
My son received this game from us as a Christmas gift. It has been a BIG hit! I hide the puppies all around the house according to the clue cards... and he finds the puppies individually, along with the next clue card. The 6 puppies are adorable and appear to be durable. Another nice part of this game is that they give you instructions with several different ways to play with the pieces... so it is really several different games in 1. I think we'll be playing with this for a nice, long while!

Scavenger Hunts with Puppies - 7 yo girl heaven.
The tooth fairy brought this when my daughter's 8th tooth fell out. Curse you, TF! My daughter has woken me up with scavenger puppy hunts many times since then. She adores this game. I like it too, just after a cup of coffee and maybe not at the crack of dawn. I can't wait for her to realize her BFF can also read, so they can set it up for each other.The game comes with well-chosen cue cards, though I wish they had included somd blank ones for us to fill in ourselves. The clues are things like "look next to something blue," "look in a drawer," "look next to a sink". The puppies are cute. Each one has a name printed on its collar. We find some of the other game suggestions in an included booklet to also be fun.My daughter is learning about logical sequencing - you have to think to get all the cue cards in the right places. (Coffee helps.) She likes to make hunts with 9-10 clues. It was so exciting when she realized she could read almost every clue by herself - even more difficult words like "drawer". She enjoys reading through them all and choosing clues for her favorite spots. Ths game really reinforces planning.All in all, another great toy from Melissa & Doug.
