I want Flannery O'Connor's courage.
As a child, I wasn't like Flannery O'Connor. I shaded my eyes from the glare of oddities, while she looked right at them. I cowered from the idea of death, while she didn't. I'm an adult now, and a bit braver, but not much. As I read about O'Connor's love of strange birds and her courage to explore ideas that have been hard for me to handle, I feel like she is grasping my hand and assuring me that it's going to be all right. I'm profoundly grateful to Alznauer and Zhu for helping me share O'Connor's courage with my children. I want each of my children to have a "humph" of their own and the audacity to believe that "death is far too strange a thing to be all there is."

Wonderously touching and beautiful
It's hard to describe this magical book. It is a thoughtful, elegant, sensitively portrayed biography of a writer that touches the heart, paired with imaginative beautiful illustrations, communicating with bright yet soft colors all that cannot be expressed in words alone. What a marvelous collaboration! The book "strangeness" matches the strangeness of its subject, which is really only as strange in the wonderful way that any human being who strives for self-expression against the odds can be.

Worth your time
I have just finished reading this fine book about O'Connor and her birds. Enjoyed it tremendously. As one who spent her professional life toiling in the O'Connor Vineyards, I was cheered in these oh-so-bleak days by this reminder of O'Connor's always-bigger vision of our world.

Belle histoire, reçu avec couverture déchirée
Beau livre , histoire chouette et inspirante Mais reçu soi disant neuf et le double de couverture est déchiré à deux endroits. Dommage pour un livre tout neuf ...
