Peter Meredith does an amazing job telling the story of the infection and leaves ...
I hardly ever leave feedback on the Kindle Books, however I just finished the Undead World Series (1-7) in 30 days! Peter Meredith does an amazing job telling the story of the infection and leaves you on the edge of your seat time and time again. After finishing with The Remaining by DJ Molles, I was certain I wouldn't find a better book about the Apocalypse. Well, after a few crappy purchases I deiceded to give this series a try - if you like deep character development, action packed story, this is for you. The violence was a bit harsh and graphic at times, but it fits within the context of the story.I found myself watching less Movies and when I had free time and was home form work, I was reading more than anything else. That's how good this series is. I fell in love with some of the characters and I think Jillybean is by far the most amazing character ever created in a book.Along with her, Grey, Neil, Saddie and a few others were the only force of good in a world gone mad. You will come to feel like these are part of your family.Again, I am not much of a feedback writer, but I am taking the time to tell you this was an AMAZING series and worth every penny. Thank you Peter!

This book it brutal and grapic.
The 1st book in this series was really a good read. The second book was even better. These books are brutal in content , nothing feel good about them so as long as you are ok with that they are definate page turners. The character development is excellent, you grow to either love or despise then. I partcularly love Ram and Jillybean. Sadie and Neil are a mismatched pair but the fatner daughter bond is strong. If you like the Living Dead you will love these books. Try not to get attached to any one character though the world they live inwill never give them a break or a place of safety.

Really good read.
The apocalypse struck and Peter Meredith does a good job describing the in’s and out of those responsible and those who survive and how.The groups of people in the books I’ve read were well defined and the reader becomes invested in their choices. Sometimes, I even thought I understand that decision, but I know this will end badly…doing the right thing doesn’t always mean you survive. One of the character being followed is Steve. He is the person least likely to survive…an wall street investment banker. He not only survives, but ends up flourishing in the new normal. He is terrified, but still does what needs to be done to protect the ones he loves.Another person who does a metamorphosis is Ram, a DEA agent. He is chasing the terrorists who released the horror of the walking dead. As the world crumbles, he suffers PTSD and becomes a voyeur in the world of which he resides. That is until he meets a small child, Jillybean. She is a true apocalypse survivor. She gets advice from a stuffed animal and between the two of them they hide for months and survive. To enjoy this series, start with the first book and read all three. It gets a little gritty at times but if this is your genre, this series is a must. Meredith uses the written word in a way that leaves the reader with a clear vision of the new world, to enjoy or cringe over.

Wow!
An outstanding character driven story. Each character is well-fleshed out, not the usual cardboard cut-out that are overused in Zombie shoot’em ups. What was especially refreshing was that the characters were Joe Anybodies, not Rambo-type commandos. My favorites were Jillybean, a six-year old orphan followed by Neil, a white collar Wall Street type. There are plenty of twists in the plot to keep you turning the pages. There is no happy ending, but the ending is logical and did satisfy this reader. While this book is second in the series, the story is strong enough to stand on its own.

Real world building skill
Book 2 is every bit as good as book 1. Probably better. There is some real true world building going on and I am looking forward to seeing what happens to everyone in the rest of the series. Not knowing much about the author, I'm surprised that that then author's note at the end of this book indicates he is an independent. With all of the sub par work getting big bucks and the popularity of this particular genre right now, I cannot see why a publisher has not bought these.

One of the best darn little characters ever written.
I have to say, one of the best characters I have ever read, for the complexity, and the thoughts, was Jillybean. I love, love, love, her character. Diving into her thoughts and who she is, and where she came from was done masterfully. This book was fantastic. There was suspense, fighting, love, caring, sacrifice, heroics, and so much more. I loved this book.

Compelling
Peter Meredith does a find job developing characters and advancing a narrative. Sadly, those well-developed characters, even if they start-out as unrelatable and unlikable, do eventually grow on you. And when they do, that seems the perfect time for them to leave the story... and it made me sad at the end of this book.I don't know what is yet to come, but my fingers are crossed that it doesn't include the heartache that came with the end of this book.

Little angels of the apocalypse
Peter Meredith is a fine writer, at one stage in book one I was about to bug out, that thing called hope was gone and so was my will to read on. But first I find it incredible that an author has to address charges of racism, sexism etc - totally ludicrous, untrue and unacceptable. I note too he is one of the few authors who understands the fundamental religious and political difference between Iranians and most of the Arab world, that is a huge plus. But forget all that, Meredith's characters are just so well written. Every book of this genre has to have hope, or its useless, even if its only aspirational, hope springs eternal. But in characters like the magical Jillybean or super dad Neil or the wonderful free spirit that is Sadie, the lost broken Ram and sad Sarah - how anyone in their right might could level charges of sexism against the portrayal of these women. Or racism against the portrayal of Cassie, not sure what colour these people think Ram is. For its the women in these books that prove to be most resourceful, intelligent and fearless - not in a sword waving ninja way. So I'm on book 3 I've no idea how this is all going to pan out. For me this this is a stand out series in a crowded genre, forget the end of the world, the hordes of zombies, the miserable dregs of humanity that pollute humanity. For with angels like Jillybean and Sadie - we as a human race will surely survive everything - even the end of the world? Peter Meredith has written a series of treasures in the wasteland, read it, be moved and be awed.

Really impressed so far
I freely admit that I love Z and Post-Apocalyptic fiction. I've read the James Cook and DJ Molles series of books and really enjoyed those, but this is another level. It's a lot more dark in some parts and there are no super-soldiers coming to the rescue.... ever! Some really deep characters in it and the structure keeps you gripped. I also like the fact that (so-far) the zombies aren't evolving in any way and becoming Resident Evil style super-monsters. I can see it's a long series so I hope it keeps on as good as this!

Wow.....wow
Wow.....I read the first book and was blown away. I compared it to reading the Stand by stephen king. I stand by that. It was amazing. I started the second book and had to admit I was a little disappointed when I thought that it was a new set of characters. As soon as I started chapter two I realised that things were carrying on but with a new and magical new character called Jillybean. Reading this book was a roller coaster ride. The author stated that there would be no happy ending but throughout I never gave up hope. There were moments when i had a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye(more than once). I finished it in two days and have already got the third one. I am looking forward to this

where to start? the characters are well written and easily believable. the story follows them on the next stage of their journey, revenge , love, heartbreak. it has it all, oh and zombies lots of them , and bad guys too. I can't wait to read to the next one.

Much darker sequel to the first book
After the first novel, I was excited to read this book, and it was no disappointment. The story is much more grim than its predecessor, and has more focus on the wickedness of people in a dog eat dog world. One of the things that has really impressed me about both of these books is the emphasis given to the need to survive as a human being in a world that has ceased to provide. The only reason I'm not giving this book 5 stars is that quite a few typos and incorrectly substituted words crept in. That should not stop any appreciator of the apocalypse genre from really enjoying this.
