Clear with good color definition
I bought two of these monitors for my main computer. The monitors are very clear with good color definition. The speakers are a bit tinny sounding so I continued to use the computer speaker system. With two side by side, I have plenty of desktop space.

An Ideal Monitor for a Mini PC
Let's get this out of the way first: I don't know why whoever came up with this review form included "For gaming" as one of the criteria. This monitor is NOT for gaming: it's too small, the resolution isn't high enough, and its refresh rate is too slow for gaming, and it's really not stylish enough to be the counterpart of a glitzy gaming rig. However, this monitor is ideal for use with a modern mini PC, such as those from Beelink, Minisforum, Kamrui, Ace Magician and Geekom. That's because mini PCs offer the notion of a minimalist design with - hopefully - not too many cables snaking around, but lack some of the hardware needed to make that a reality. Your typical mini PC is a small box that can tuck under or behind the monitor or even inside of a desk drawer, but it doesn't have internal speakers and usually has only four USB ports, one or two of which are the slower USB 2.0 type. (A mini PC usually also offers one USB C port, but how many USB C devices do you have? If you're like most people, you have one, and that's only if you count your smartphone charge cord.) A keyboard, mouse, printer, webcam and speakers potentially uses up all your USB ports, leaving none for plugging in the occasional USB flash drive or any other accessories you might need. And that is where this monitor comes to the rescue!Mini PCs typically offer two HDMI ports, or one HDMI port and one DisplayPort port, for video. HDMI and DisplayPort ports are both designed to carry audio as well as video, and this monitor has both HDMI and DisplayPort video inputs as well as built-in stereo speakers. That means with just one cable, you can connect audio and video, and you eliminate the separate audio cable, which would otherwise plug in, rather awkwardly, on the front of the mini PC. If your environment isn't too noisy, and your ears aren't too picky, then you may be satisfied with the sound from this monitor's built-in speakers and can do without a bulky external speaker kit. But if you prefer the fuller, louder sound that only external speakers can provide, you can plug your external speaker kit into this monitor's audio output jack. That will give you the better sound you want without plugging an additional cable into the front of your mini PC.This monitor also has a built-in 4-port USB hub, which you connect to one of your mini PC's USB 3.x ports via a USB A/B cable, included with the monitor. So, just one USB port on the mini PC gets expanded to four, and those four USB ports are on the monitor, which gives you more options for cable management, which helps you keep a neater desk. The monitor's USB ports are USB v3.2.If this monitor's 22" screen isn't big enough for you, then don't fret, because ViewSonic also offers a 24" version, and everything I've said about the 22" version applies to it as well.

Terrific color and works great
Great monitor. Only wish I had gotten one with a camera on it. Now that my laptop is closed and it feeds into the monitor, I can't facetime or skype unless I open my computer back up. Small problem.

Great resolution and color
Wanted to replace a dead 22” Viewsonic after 7 years. Wally World and locals did not carry the Viewsonic brand. Easy to use

It works
Good basic monitor. Nothing fancy. It only has one HDMI, one Display, one VGA port. Would be nice to have a couple HDMI ports. I use it for my CCTV system. Work great.

... this monitor a low rating mainly because of the bad (non-existent? ) customer support
I have this monitor a low rating mainly because of the bad (non-existent?) customer support. I bought this monitor because it has built-in stereo speakers and because its position can be adjusted in many ways making a good choice, ergonomically. Now that I have it, I am very satisfied in all ways EXCEPT one, but this one way is very important. I cannot make any adjustments to the monitor using the front panel buttons. This is very frustrating because the volume setting is too low to hear very well so the speakers are of little use to me. I also cannot adjust the brightness or anything else. Obviously, I should be able to use the front panel control buttons to make these adjustments, but they don't work in any intuitive way to enable me to move through the menu. Now you'd think that there would be a way to learn how to work these buttons, but you would be wrong. Why? (1) I can't view the CD which contains the User Guide and the Installation software because I have a Macbook Pro which doesn't have a CD port. (2) The paper instructions included in the box with the monitor does not explain how to navigate the menu with the buttons. (3) The support section of the ViewSonic web site doesn't have Viewsonic VG2239SMH monitor instructions which cover how to navigate through the front panel buttons. (4) The customer service agents do not answer their phone. I was on hold for over 2 hours yesterday, but was never able to reach a live person. Same thing for a half hour wait the day before. The recording gave me the option of leaving a written message on their site, which I did 2 or 3 days ago, but no one has ever responded. Argh! I will probably return this monitor and go with a different company with better customer service. UPDATE: A few hours after I posted this review, I received an email from Viewsonic with a set of directions on how to adjust the sound volume, brightness, etc. The speaker quality is not great but is passable. I guess I'll keep this monitor and up the stars from 2 to 3.

IMHO: Viewsonic monitors are reliable
In my honest opinion, view sonic monitors have always been reliable for me. Good picture quality but the speakers are a bit lower in sound than I'd like but that's a personal preference. It's nice that you have an audio option but you shouldn't expect to get premium quality sound from monitor speakers, for music, you'd best have something with tweeters and woofers, at least that's my suggestion.

It's an okay monitor but not great
I may be biased in my review because it sits on my desk next to a nicer (~$200) monitor, and I have only used this monitor for text editing and some mild web browsing.Overall the picture quality looks fine for the price although the colours don't look particularly nice, and there are quite a few options available in the menu. It takes pretty much any port you'll ever want to use. It can swivel into portrait mode easily. I use it as a secondary monitor that I almost always keep vertical so I can see a lot of text at once and it's fine for that. The onboard speakers aren't great but if you don't normally use sound and only need them every now and then, they get the job done.I probably wouldn't use this monitor for gaming, but if this it's the only option it wouldn't be awful. 5ms response time is respectable, and it takes displayport. You could probably figure out how to get more than 60Hz on it, too. There's nothing in particular that's wrong with this monitor, but there are a few little things that bother me.The viewing angles aren't as good as they make them sound in the description - it's still visible but everything gets much darker toward the side. It looks quite nice from the right angle but the backlight changes intensity throughout the screen, especially in portrait mode. If you have something on the screen that has a big solid-colour background (like a text editor, in my case), you can see pretty obvious variations throughout the screen. The cables come in from the bottom so if you have it in portrait mode it looks ugly with the big power cable sticking out the side. The bezels are wider than I like and it just generally kind of looks like the type of monitor you'd find around a school or office building - I think it makes my desk at home look a bit uglier in general. The plastics feel cheap, although I haven't had any durability issues in the year I've owned it.Overall it's fine I guess. If you just need a monitor for basic computer stuff it'll get the job done. There's just nothing really remarkable about it, it's just an okay monitor.

Easy to set up
I'm using this with my PC but am not gaming, so can't comment on that. I'm also using my own speakers, so don't know how the sound is. The picture is great with no dead pixels. It's easy to adjust with the buttons, but I had to rub talc into the numbers so I could see them! I couldn't get the displayport cable to work - the screen was randomly going black - so I used a VGA cable and it works well. (I think my old graphics card might be at fault even tho it was meant to be compatible.) Shame I can't use the displayport, as that's meant to provide a better picture. My box was missing the VGA cable but I contacted Amazon customer services and one was promptly sent to me.

Very well made Monitor!!!
Bought the 22" version. It's an amazing monitor with great ergonomics!!! Sturdy and good looking. Can confirm it's ZERO flicker. As much as i want to keep it, sadly have to return it as it is too big for my desk and need a smaller one 🥲 ( considering their portable monitors ) .
