Trouble with Fedora Linux
This monitor is also packed with a mount, a small remote control, a composite and mini 1/8" jack for analog video, an HDMI, and a VGA/USB combo cord. The cords are only a few feet, so likely good for testing, and may require cord extensions in your final installation location.I haven't gotten the Linux touch screen function working yet.PROS1) Pretty good looking screen.2) Good sized mounting bracket. (One of the main reasons I bought this monitor was for the good sized mounting bracket, aside from the girl in the photo looking at least like she's older than 18 years old!)3) Although the manual is obviously translated into English, the manual small and is easily comprehendible. (Unlike some past translated manuals I have had to reread more than two times to understand.)4) Simple white box, no frills OEM packaging.5) Has a button for dimming the screen/display to a red color, useful or desirable for night (driving) use.CONS1) Trouble using the VGA/USB combo touch screen with Fedora 20. The screen works fine using nouveau (or an NVidia card) drivers, but touch screen functions via the USB cable are another story. I've yet to figure-out how to get the touch part working, as no driver seems to be claiming the device. Nor is USB even picking up any product ID's! (ie. lsusb) The driver disk does come with source code, source code dated apparently 2002. The source code mentions eGalax within the code, and has device drivers named tkusb. However, none of the Fedora 20 touch screen drivers appear to work, nor are there any events at all upon plugging in the device! Had the touch screen worked out of the box (with Fedora 20 or kernel modules and Xorg drivers), I would have given five stars. (After now trying to install within Windows XP, I still get an unknown USB Vendor/ID on the USB ports.) Now that I think of it, I think they sent me the non-touch version! After contact customer service, it was determined best that I return this item for exchange. (We, or I, could not make a conclusion as to whether the USB touchscreen was dysfunctional, bad drivers, or if the device was even the touchscreen version.)2) The buttons on the front of the screen reminds me of ACER monitor buttons. Somewhat confusing, but isn't as bad as my old ACER monitor.3) Cords are pretty short. The cords are long enough for testing, or installing the unit within an immediate area of the power and main computer, but any further than a few feet and you'll want longer cords. (Likely will have to use VGA & USB adapters if using the VGA/USB cord, as the VGA/USB looks to be a proprietary adapter for the touch screen function.)4) The default screen brightness is a little bright. Lowered the brightness to about 20. Contrast seems about right. There's also a "Focus" feature for increasing detail, but apparently at the expense of color anomalies.2014.04.15 - Returning the product.2014.04.26 - Can confirm a similar product (ie. Lilliput 669GL-70NP/C/T) containing a similar eGalax USB chip does work, implying this Koolertron had a defective USB chip, or it was not the Touch-Screen version to begin with. Although the Koolertron did have a USB port and USB cable packaged with the display. Please note, I'm rating this product as overall good and rating on a simple possibly random defect. I have already reduced the product by one star due to this defect or product mistaken switch. I have yet to be able to write a review for the Lilliput 669GL-70NP/C/T, but overall I can say the Lilliput display just worked upon plugging it in! For all Microsoft Windows' products, it is advisable to go to eGalax web page and download the Touch Screen drivers directly, instead of using possibly older driver versions within the CD media. (ie. Just what I was looking for. I was using ...
Just what I was looking for. I was using an OPPO-105 blu ray player in my AUDIO system as a disc transport, only a limited part of what this product was designed to do, but it does it so well. But I couldn't see the settings, which assumed a video component. So I needed a small monitor that could accept an HDMI input. This device hits the spot, an inexpensive way to achieve full functionality of my disc transport. The Koolertron does just what it promises to do, no more, no less.

Bad resolution
I am not sure what technology they use for this monitor, but the so called 16:9 HD looks really bad on this monitor. Many devices are smaller than this monitor with much better display quality. I think they use dithering technology to make it look like a high-resolution display, but it is not good.

Great color detail super
I bought this to use as a computer monitor because it fit into where I needed it to. I was surprised at the detail of the screen I could clearly read every font. The touch screen works also however backwards haven't tried to work on that yet but I'm sure it's a software issue. I like the HDMI input and two other RCA inputs will be put to use also along with the VGA input. It really is a neat little monitor.
