17.3" LED WXGA++ Glossy HD LCD Replacement Laptop Screen/Display for HP Pavilion DV7-3065DX, DV7-2185DX, DV7-4285DX, DV7-4060US (w/conversion cable)

This by no means reflects on the vendor or the LCD - both exceeded my expectations and the LCD is probably better than the original HP display.I am writing this as a note to those who may decide to skimp on ordering a replacement LCD connecting cable for your laptop. This is not a cable to move the LCD connection from left to right, but the one that connects from your system board to the display module. My laptop, a HP DV7-2185DX, is of 2009 vintage and started to have vertical lines on the LCD display. I had past heat problems and replaced the internal fan - also heard that heat problems can cause connection issues at the video hardware. Verify that the problem is a bad LCD - replacing a LCD won't fix bad video hardware. To test your laptop's internal video hardware, connect an external monitor to you laptop to see if it is working properly. I ordered the LCD and decided not to order the connecting cable (516307-001) from another vendor, $10 + shipping.. The connector on the LCD side appeared to be fine and the tape had plenty of stick to it. I added an extra piece of tape and sealed up the laptop.Worked great for several days, until I tuned it on 3 days later. I was now seeing a red tint to the whole screen and this was before the laptop loaded the OS. After reopening the display module, I found that the connector was not making a good connection. It might have a slight bow in the middle and thus an intermittent connection - placing my finger on the connector makes the red tint disappeared. So now I have a new cable on the way and will live with the red tint until I get the new cable. If your external monitor test worked, replace the laptop's connecting cable when you replace the LCD.

The screen works ok, but the color is SO SO SO muted!! It had a yellow haze and almost looks like you are looking through a room filled with smoke to see the screen...there is NO brightness to this screen...I would have gone a different route had I known this was a quality I was going to get. I tried to change the settings, resolution, brightness...nothing worked, what a disappointment!

Had to modify wiring because I ordered the one where the connection was on the wrong side. Fixed it by rewiring. Works great! great seller! fast delivery! Make sure you pick the correct one for easy installation.
