Southland SWFT14022 Walk Behind Field Trimmer

I would return this trimmer if I could. Do not buy a trimmer on which you cannot adjust the trimming height! This machine is so powerful that it threw a rock that broke one of my windows. Just a bullet hole size hole but clear through one pane. And the handlebar is not adjustable which creates a very awkward position for anyone possibly less than 5'10" (guessing). That's about it. Would probably cut through just about anything but I cannot deal with the physical discomfort and the small pieces of stuff that it slings into your face, onto your legs, arms and vehicles and buildings.

Totally great utility mower. Does tough, freshly green weeds and plows down dry or dead weeds. It doesn't do too well near corners or any walls, so that has to be done with other tools, but this thing is fast, fuel efficient and sturdy.

Cut down a quarter acre of 1/4-1" reeds down in a couple hours with little effort. Easy to assemble, starts right up out of the box. It idles a little slow but that can be fixed with a zip tie on the throttle linkage. For the price, you CAN NOT beat it

Impressed with this machine. This trimmer was easy to assemble, started on 3 prime pumps & 1 pull. I am a 62 year old woman, so I was impressed by the no effort start. Unfortunately, the filter housing & cover were crushed during shipping. Seller reimbursed me for the parts without a hassle. I can't wait to use it. I will add an update after the repair & after using it, but it seems to be very well constucted & the strings are easy to attach. Home Depot sells the 0.155 size line, too. Motor is really quiet, but powerfull. The only reason I subtracted 1 star was because of the damage during shipping. Either the filter housing could be made of stronger material, or they should have shielded it better with packing material. I don't like having to repair something new, but unfortunately I had already filled it with gas & oil prior to the discovery of the damage.I guess my new rule is, always go over any equipment with a gasoline engine with a fine toothed comb. I was not aware that you couldn't ship something back that had contained gas and/or oil.I carefully researched trimmers before I ordered this one. I couldn't find any reviews on this one, but it had many features that I found attractive. I later found it on the Home Depot website, for the same price & if I had purchased it from them, I could have returned it to a store. I am still hopeful that this is the solution to my trimming trouble areas.UPDATE: I was able to purchase the parts that were damaged and replaced them. The trimmer worked great the first 3 times I started it. It has no vibration and is quiet. I was able to trim around the edges of about 1/2 acre and under all of my fruit trees before I had to replace the lines the first time, so that was a pleasant surprise. I am a 62 year old woman with short arms and probably don't have the greatest pull strength, so I'm going to take it over to my neighbor's house and see if he can start it. I'm sure the average man would not have trouble. I was hoping the advertised manual quick start was the answer to my aversion to gas pull starting equipment.I was eventually able to restart by fiddling with the choke spring/lever.

Easy to put together. Also purchased 50 feet of .155 trimmer line. Now able to control extra 1/2 acre to double my access to my yard.

Going on my 2nd year with this trimmer and have only one problem and that was with guard on the bottom of the unit. I replaced it and have been more careful around rocks and concrete. I have been very satisfied with this purchase,

This thing really cut's

Works great at the cabin where there are rocks everywhere. Starts and runs well
