I really like this diffuser because it is nice looking and delivers lots of scent, looks nice and doesn't flood the room with too much light (what I was looking for to not keep my son awake.) I really dislike it because it is shallow ad can easily spill when being moved. If it sloshes (my son tried to move it when we first got it) and the water gets in the air hole, the water gets into the motor below and leaks through the vent at the bottom. It actually stopped working. Then it dried out and on the upside, it did start working again. I researched a lot for my second one since that happened and this is a problem with most diffuser designs.Some do have the air hole high enough above the fill line or in a separated area from where you put the water in. I would only recommend this one for adults without kids or pets to possibly knock it and slosh the water. And then, I would really only recommend it if you are set on the looks of it and want to spend the minimum.

This aromatherapy diffuser is so cute and compact! Even though it is opaque, you still have the option to choose a light color (or no light) where the mist comes out. It is nice and quiet--just has the sound of moving water. It is simple to use. Once you unscrew the "wood" top, you'll see a plastic dome of sorts with some labels on it. Make sure to note that the rectangular hole on the very front of this portion is the air intake. You don't want to get water in here. After you know where not to put water, you can lift off the inner dome to see the water area. Fill this up with water at least to the metal sensor, drop your favorite oils on the surface of said water, and voila! After plugging in the included cord, press the button labeled M to turn it on. If you press it once, it will go in cycles of 3 minutes on, 1 minute off. The next press will get you to continuous diffusion. Press it once more to turn it off. The L button allows you to choose the color of the light at the mist opening, if you choose to go with light. If you are new to aromatherapy like me and don't want to spend an arm and a leg on something that you're not sure if you will like or not, I highly recommend trying this one. I did not get anything free or discounted for this review.

I wish Amazon had a 1/2 star option for reviews, as I would give this 3.5 instead of 4.I have the wood-grain finish. It's lovely to look at, except for the red and blue lights on the front. The red one for is for the water level, the blue apparently lets you know the unit is running. They cannot, as far as I can tell, but turned off during operation, which is really unfortunate and the reason I knocked an entire star off the review - it's fooling to ruin the simple, smooth, organic looking design with tacky lights.The other draw-back to this item, which isn't the end of the world but was incredibly annoying, is the lack of decent directions. My unit arrived with no inserts (not sure if that's normal, but that's how mine came) - so I was stuck with the absurd IKEA-style illustrations and entirely unhelpful verbage that's printed on the box. For the first hour or so, I was convinced it was defective. I tried logging onto the manufacturer's website for a manual, but there wasn't one available for this item and the 'Live Chat' option was also not available (it was a Saturday). In the process of trying to dump out the water I'd filled it with, I discovered the interior plastic dome comes off to reveal the water reservoir. At first I thought I had broken it, but then the absurd IKEA-style illustrations made more sense. This plastic dome is not easy to get on and off, and it's the reason I would knock another half-star off the rating, if I could.As for function, this diffuser works as described. The pictures are accurate as far as how the mist looks. There is an option to change the mist color by pushing buttons on the back of the unit, and options to have the unit cycle. Why they didn't put the ugly operation lights back there as well is a mystery to me.If I'd had the opportunity to see this item functioning in a store, I would not have purchased it because of the operation lights. If those won't bother you, this is a good diffuser for the price. Will update if it stops working sooner than I would like.

I received it a day early (hooray Amazon) and upon opening it, was glad that it looked exactly as described, and had a great simple look. It has been extremely effective thus far. Within a minute of turning it on, the aroma of the oils was already filling our dining room.Despite what other reviewers have said, this thing is SO simple to open and close. It opens with a simple and light twist counterclockwise, and once you line up the locking tabs, it goes back on and locks in place with a small clockwise twist. The inner lid lifts up rather simply, especially if you have fingernails.Mild criticism, we hooked it up and once we saw that it worked, we wanted to move it to the desk on the other side of the room. During that move the water inside sloshed a little and apparently got in the air inlet so it stopped dispensing because the fan could no longer blow the air out to push the mist into the room. Took it apart, blew out the air inlet, put it back together, tapped it on the desk to make sure o water was bound up in a droplet in the pipe, and turned it back on. Back in business. I am a very technical person so this was a simple fix for me, but other people might have struggled with it if they lacked that technical penchant. Better documentation in the box would be awesome for this. FAQ's.If this continues to work this well for a good period of time, will likely get at least 2 more for other areas of the house, and on for my office at work.

I was a little hesitant after reading the reviews but this is a great diffuser. Works great and is easy to use, despite people saying it isn't. You take the top lid off, then the plastic one under it, and you fill with water and essential oils and turn it on. It does not come with instructions but a simple google search provides a video that clearly demonstrates everything. The buttons are simple: the top one turns it on, press it again and it starts a delay of 1 minute on, 1 minute off; press again for 2 minutes on/off, then 3.....then off. The bottom button changes the light color! I love this, and my kids even want ones for their rooms now.

everything came as expected, functioned as expected and then failed after just 3 uses!?! would like to return but as it was a gift, the 30 day policy is not an option, and contacting the seller is also proving quite difficult. So much for the 1 yr warrenty...

It worked for about 6 months and then died for no reason. If you need to use regularly get a higher end one that is larger.
