I bought them for my 16 year old daughter and they fit perfect - I imagine they would be too big for small kids

It doesn't come with batteries. Triple A is what you need.

How long does it take for the ears to calibrate?

Once powered on, it takes about 15-30 seconds. The ears will wiggle while calibrating.

Do these have a warranty in case of damage while being shippe?

There really isn't a warranty, but if you receive these already damaged, you can return them and get an amazon refund. I had to do that because the ear sensor was broken when it arrived. Amazon will email you a return label and once UPS has checked it into their system for a return then Amazon will give you online gift card credit for the same amount of the item purchased. You'll have about 30 days to return the item.
