$18 versus $54-$75 for OME
My furnace was repaired yesterday! The leads were shorter than the burned out HSI in the furnace, but so was the expensive one from the original manufacturer. I also came with ceramic wire nuts for just that possibility. It works and saved me a nice bit of money. Definitely a good purchase.

Amazon warehouse was great
Got it from amazon warehouse. So had little hesitation about the open box. But it was quality checked and certified by Amazon and worked great. Must be a return item or damaged package.

Local HVAC companies wouldn't sell me one
Local HVAC supply companies would not sell me an igniter because I don't have a HVAC business. Local HVAC guys wouldn't sell me one because they wanted to install it. It was the middle of a sub zero blizzard and my furnace wasn't working. Amazon to the rescue. We used electric heaters for 2 days, the igniter came to my doorstep, and my furnace is back up and running.

A direct replacement.
I have had to have this replaced twice in 12 years. The first time I was charge $90 for the part. I had to buy it, even tho it was under warranty, because I couldn't wait for a replacement to order. I held it for years. Furnace tech told me last month that I had to replace it again. He was stunned when I handed him mine. I was charged the normal hourly rate - took him all of 15 minutes. This is a direct replacement and a whole lot less expensive.

exact replacement part
In march i woke up to a cold house... about 58 degrees. I went to check the furnace and found the ignitor had cracked into two pieces. I always keep a spare in the house so I replaced it and was up and running (in a warm house) in less than thirty minutes. I bought this part as my spare for the next time the ignitor breaks (which seems to be about every seven years). This part is the exact replacement part i needed.

Going through them like crazy.
I bought 4 off Amazon - 2 Last December and 2 last week. The one I had installed last December lasted until a week ago when it suddenly quit (that is what they do - just suddenly quit.) I replaced it with the other one from my December order. It already had that heated look to it - the rainbow colors not just the charcoal sparkle. But the wires looked new. It lasted 3 days. Upon inspecting it, it looked like it had a fault on in the middle of the ignitor I chalked that up to shipping or possibly me. I fortunately had ordered 2 replacements to have a couple on hand. I put one in last Thursday - it had that nice charcoal new look. That gave up life today - still looks new. I pulled the other one out of the box and it just didn't look right - hot spot discoloration in the middle area where the other one looked like it had a flaw. As I was screwing it on, the middle section just fell on the bench... Nice... No heat now. At least it's not January. If I was going to question, my first thought would be handling of them and I guarantee it isn't my handling of them. That isn't the case - on my end. So shipping? Warehouse? I don't know. All the ones I ordered came with Prime Shipping. I really don't understand the premature failures. I don't have excess moisture or dust and my dryer vents outside.Follow Up: I went through a few more of these and called in a professional. Everything checked out fine on my furnace. These are EXTREMELY fragile. If you touch them the oil on your hand will cause them to burn out. If you bump them they break (been there done that one). These were shipped in a soft pack. We talked it over and he replaced this with a more modern/different style of igniter which is much more robust. No issues in a while now.

Works well, but life is not as good as OEM
The one I bought failed about 14 months after it went into service. The mounting hole in the bracket may not be in the correct location for your boiler

It looks like a used one
It looks like a used one, because the filament has burning colors.

Lasted 24 hours, no longer heats up.
Arrived on Saturday, installed without touching the element. It worked for 24 hours then gave up.
