Box set containing three popular soulful movies. In 'Soul Food' (1997), every Sunday young Ahmad's (Brandon Hammond) family gathers for dinner at his grandmother's (Irma P. Hall) house. When Ahmad's grandmother falls into a coma, however, the family begins to splinter. Ahmad's Uncle Lem loses his job, Aunt Teri (Vanessa L. Williams) witnesses her husband having sex with her cousin, and Ahmad's mother, Maxine (Vivica A. Fox), attempts to keep the warring factions of her family together. In 'Waiting To Exhale' (1995) four women use their close-knit friendship to withstand the tests their lives bring them and help them in their search for true love. Savannah (Whitney Houston) and Robin (Lela Rochon) are successful businesswomen but their love lives have suffered. Bernadine (Angela Bassett) thought she had found the real thing until her husband left her for another woman, while Gloria (Loretta Devine) is a divorcee whose interest in men is reignited by a handsome neighbour. Finally in 'How Stella Got Her Groove Back' (1998), Stella (Bassett) is so wrapped up in the day to day struggle of earning a crust, that she has forgotten how to really enjoy herself. Lifelong friend Delilah (Whoopi Goldberg) sees the need for Stella to take a break, and so whisks her off on holiday to Jamaica. A holiday romance with a man 20 years her junior reignites Stella's lust for life, and launches her on a journey of self-discovery.
