The Perfect Pack for a Backpacking/Hiking/Camping trip! 10 Stars!!!!!!! Lots of room! Comfortable!
There is NOTHING I dislike about this product. Everything about it impresses me. Not only is Camelbak a reliable namebrand...now I know WHY this is so.This Hydration backpack is amazing! Where do I start?1) The material that the back pack is made of is very sturdy.2) There is a pocket at the top of the pack with extremely soft lining for things like a phone or things that need softness surrounding them to protect them.3) There is a stretch overflow pocket on the back that the instructions say is if the pack is packed full helps to support the amount. However, it can also be used to stash a one or even two person lightweight tent!4) The straps that come around the waist also have pockets for snack bars or an MP3 player...or any number of other things!5) I love, love, love the integrated rain shield. At the bottom of the pack is a velcro closure that you just pull apart and inside is a yellow rain cover for the pack surrounded by a wide band of black elastic. It is connected TO the backpack so there is less chance for losing it. It easily (and QUICKLY-important when a rain storm blows up quickly) covers the whole pack to keep your pack from getting wet!6) There is a large zippered section with several smaller pockets within that is plenty large enough for socks, shirts, pants, underwear, journal, whatever you want to carry into the woods with you. This pack is amazing!7) It is the most comfortable backpack I have ever tried. There is an adjustable sternum strap as well as adjustable waist straps. And the back of the pack has a rigid air support back panel with mesh covering it to allow air to get to your back so you are not sweaty from carrying the pack!! How ingenuous!! And though it is rigid, they made it in such a way that you do not feel the hard support...the part the rests on your shoulders is a ridged foam which is extremely comfortable. My son said he does not even feel like he is carrying any weight!8) The water bladder holds 3 litres and the pack itself has an additional space of 28 litres/1760 cubic inches of space for your items. The water bladder is big enough to be easily cleaned and dried. It comes with a leak proof big bite mouthpiece that connects around the front through small clamps for easy access. It also has this cool handle to make filling the bladder so much easier!!9) The straps that go across the shoulders are slightly padded and then a firm mesh that again helps with not feeling the heat and sweat of the pack.I am so excited about this pack! I got it for my son to use but I am definitely considering getting another one for myself! It comes with a lifetime guarantee as well!I do not know of anything I would complain about with this pack! If you are a serious hiker/camper or do the Appalachian Trail...this would be the pack for you. There is even a spot for trekking poles...which I do not have...but if you do have you can easily store them on this pack when not in use!I think the key features that really sold me on this product are the comfort and the space available as well as the thought that went in to making it easy to use the rain fly :)Wonderful, sturdy, comfort, plenty of water space as well as equipment space...what more could you ask for?

Disappointed in the design of this bag
This bag looks great in the pics but the design is absolutely terrible. The water compartment is way too large and is a waste of packing space. With the bag full, it intrudes into the actual packing compartment. If it were smaller and gave the buyer more storage room - that'd be a great start. The other issue is that on one side of the bag, you have a pocket and loops strap for walking sticks (or you could put a water bottle or whatever in the side pocket) BUT the other side of the bag has nothing. A HUGE waste of unused space here! If there would be the exact same pocket - that'd be the other change I'd make if I designed this bag. Now lets go to the inside. Design is decent but again Cambelbak design team missed some serious design here. The lip of the bag could have an inside zipper pocket and plenty of other space inside to be utilized in a more efficient manner. it' basically just one huge storage area which could be broken down on the sides and the lip of the bad with some pockets for smaller items. maybe some more loops on the outside to clip carabiners would be smart too. Think attaching dog bowls or muddy things etc...

Husband loves this adjustable day pack.
Finally got a chance to take the bag out and put it though it’s paces. We don’t have any camping trips planned for now, but we put a towel and 10 lbs of weight and off we went. He’s 6 feet and skinny for reference. Took it for a thirty minute walk in 90 degrees F and 49% humidity. The pack felt good. The air gap was great, and kept him from overheating. He said the bag sat well and didn’t shift once secured. He is right handed and a lot like my other hiking backpacks, there is only a zipper pocket in the left waist band. This is because you don’t usually reach across to get something in your waist pocket on a hike. The right side is a non zip folded pocket. The rain cover stuffs in a Velcro pocket on the bottom and fits snugly over the entire pack. The large roomy main compartment fits everything I would need for a weekend hike, or a long day hike. Food, camp stove, change of clothing, single man tent, jacket and the large capacity reservoir. There is a hook to put the reservoir on so it doesn’t slip down as you empty the bladder. The bite valve is the standard camelback with shut off (this is important if you have ever been hiking and broken your bite valve and didn’t have time to dig out a spare until base camp.) this is Not a carry your laptop and tootle around town pack. This is a well made solid day/weekend hiker. Yes it would be nice to have a small inner zip pocket, but that’s what carabiners and dry sacks are for. It has a mesh two compartment pocket, and a larger pocket the whole bag length. Water reservoir has its own zippered compartment, and there is one center small zip pocket for quick access item like headlamp. Has a large adjustable mesh pocket on the outside that you can put a helmet, or ground roll. Can’t wait for camping to open up again, I may just steal this from my husband for scout campouts. Product free in exchange for an honest review.
