Canon Wireless Microphone WM-V1

I use this wireless mic with my Canon VIXIA HF R600 and the sound quality is great! The only thing I need to be careful of is having my hair accidentally brush up against the mic, as it will cause great static sound. The mic itself seems to work best when placed on the outside of the shirt (I tried hiding it underneath but the sound quality was not near as good) and it does a pretty good job of only picking up my voice and not the background noise.One word of caution though-- pay attention to the red flashing light on both the receiver and the mic-- there have been times when the battery died and I was unaware and kept recording, only to find that it not picked up any audio. I had to go back and re-record that segment. There is no audible alert for when the battery is running low, so in between cuts, I always check that the blue light is on and there is no red flashing light. This mic has great sound quality but it will pick up anything on a moving subject (clothes). Also, it is VERY bulky. It is impossible to hide. It would be good for interviews where you are not too concerned with it being visible but that is about it.

It is really small and the sound quality is great. I was looking at various options and do not like the wire from competitive models. The battery is supposed to last for 3 hours per the manual instructions. However, other people's comments said 1 hour. For that reason, I bought a Duracell AAA rechargeable battery kit and spare battery. This way, I will never run out of battery. I am able to hide the microphone inside my bra, right in the middle. It works fine. For men, I guess they can put it in their pockets. I also really like the fact that I can use the receiver and microphone as a walky-talky. It comes with two ear phones. Wonderful technology! I need to test how far I can go? Maybe 50 feet?

The sound quality of this wireless mic is FANTASTIC, even from across two rooms. Easy to use with the new Canon Vixia HF R400 video camera I bought to make videos for my business.The mic is bulkier than a lavalier mic, but no wires is a plus.The only negative I've seen after my first use is the blue light that shows the mic is on and shows up on the video. Next video I will put a piece of electrical tape over the blue light so it doesn't show on video.Unfortunately, the blue light is on the same side of mic as the mic pick-up slot, so can't turn the mic around. The solution is easy for Canon, put the blue light on the clip side vs. the current mic side.Buy if you need a wireless mic and cover the blue light.

The wireless microphone has an internal issue where it says that the battery is bad even when there have been several new batteries installed in the unit. The connections are fine but it stays red all of the time. It has cost me several hours worth of bad video for my customers. I have been traveling for work and just got back and my return availability is 2 days past the date and I am out $200 dollars.

We bought this product for our HD videocamera and after using it for approximately 30 minutes the receiver stopped picking up the microphone sound. Since the seller does not fix the product we had to contact Canon and are now in the process of getting it fixed (hopefully). It's a huge hassle and inconvenience, very dissapointing.

These are my work horses for interviews. They always work and deliver loud clear sound. The battery life is ok but always bring extras.The range on these is amazing as along as there is no obstruction. Like I said I use these for interviews on the fly as long as you dont mind a little black bar clipped on your lapel. If you are having a conversation and are up close to each other, the mic will pick up both people quite well.

This microphone (just make sure you realize there is only one microphone) is a wonderful addition to any set up. I, personally, bought it for use with a Canon XA20 camcorder, and I have not been disappointed. There is an included windsock for the microphone, which works well, but should not be used if the microphone will be placed under clothing. The sound quality is great even from a distance.Pros:Great quality.Not very large (a little less than a cylinder 1" in diameter and 2" tall.Very adequate clip for hooking to clothing or whatever.Cons:Not sure how well these could be used for other set ups. Not a con per se, but I'm just tossing out there that these work for me and what I am using them for, specifically.
