Excellent, sturdy mug.
I've used this mug five days a week for 2-1/2 years. It's fantastic. Keeps my coffee hot from 6 a.m. when I pour it until I finish it, which is often not until noon or 1. Even after seven hours the coffee is still hot.Yes, the navy paint flakes a bit, even if you only hand-wash it. Mine has flaked around the top and it has flaked where I've dinged it periodically. Don't ever put it in the dishwasher. I don't mind the slight flaking. It gives the mug a tough appearance ;). If it bothers you, then get the stainless steel version. We have a couple Contigo travel mugs and the paint also flakes on those even though we hand wash them.Don't fill the mug above the indented ring near the top, either. The lid will create a vacuum seal that will prevent the coffee from pouring. Leave a couple millimeters or so of space below the indentation and you'll be fine. The lid is easy to disassemble and clean periodically. Instructions show you how to take it apart and put it back together, which is handy the first several times you do this in order to get the hang of it.The lid locking mechanism is convenient and works well. I stick the full mug in my gym bag end pocket every morning. Sometimes it falls over in the pocket. Even held upside down it doesn't leak as long as the lever is set to the "CLOSE" position. Some reviewers have complained about the quality of the handle. I haven't had any problems with mine. Plus, the handle is very comfortable to hold.I notice the navy version sells for $31 now. When I bought the navy color in Nov. 2015 it was $19. That means this mug has cost me less than 15 cents a week over 2-1/2 years. And it's still showing no signs of wearing out. I just scoured it out today to remove some coffee stains and it gleams like new. For the amount of use I've gotten from it, I believe it's excellent value.I prefer the Thermos mug to our Contigo mugs. The lid locking mechanism is better, in my opinion (it's easy to knock the Contigo lid lock open when in transit because it's on the side of the lid instead of sunken in the top of the lid like the Thermos.) I'd buy it again without hesitation, but I'd probably get the stainless steel version, which is much cheaper than the navy one.UPDATE (Feb. 2020): It has been nearly 5-1/2 years since I bought this and I still use it six days a week. It shows no signs of failing anytime soon. On an undiscounted basis this thing has cost me eight cents per week. If you add in the time value of money it's probably closer to five cents. I'm very, very pleased with this purchase. I left it at a doctor's appointment a year ago and when I called the office to retrieve it the receptionist told me that I must really like it as it seems (via the flaking paint) that it has seen a lot of use!

EXCELLENT; don't understand poor reviews here
This is an excellent thermos for your morning coffee. I bought it for my girlfriend, and she absolutely loves it. I was extremely impressed with the following features:Pros:1. TRULY spillPROOF. You can turn the mug upside down and the internal liquid will not leak out. Be careful about residual liquid on the lip though.2. The Rotating locking feature rotates 360 degrees, so you don't have to turn it one way to open and one to close. You can just cycle through open/close. It had EXCELLENT tactile feedback, so you can feel when it clicks open or close (great for when you are driving). The tactile feedback has diminished a little after a weekend of use, but it still good. No guessing if it has closed or not.3. Handsome looks. My gf loves the midnight blue finish, the beefy handle, and the "Thermos" logo which is almost retro/trendy.4. Others have mentioned the handle breaks, and while we have only had this for a weekend, I can say it is VERY sturdy and I can't imagine it breaking unless the item was misused or defective. My guess is that people are using the handle for additional torque while unscrewing the lid, which can be VERY tight after liquid in the thread dries + the vacuum seal. I, myself (a 200lb + 6'2'' guy) found myself using the handle to provide more torque to unscrew the lid. This is probably what is behind all the breaking handles. There doesn't seem to be a design defect here. I will update if it breaks.5. Keeps liquids hot/cold for HOURS.6. ZERO condensation/heat/cold coming through the outer wall7. Best part imo: ZERO metallic taste. No tastes at all actually.8. liquids caught in the lid find their way back into the thermos. Combined with the tall lip, you won't have liquids spilling out unintentionally.Cons:1. At first, the openings on the lid lined up with the handle (and 180 degrees away from the handle) which made for awkward drinking. They should be shifted 90 degrees so that the openings are perpendicular to the handle. After a day or two, they seemed to line up where they should be for convenient drinking, but I think that was because the lid thread had water on it when I tightened it, so it over-tightened. Not sure where the openings will be over time if the thread wears. Minor gripe. Take it as a tip to put some water on the thread if you can't tighten to the right place.2. Again, can't really consider this a real con, but a warning. I am struggling to find things to write here. But, BE CAREFUL. The thermos works so well, that your brain does not anticipate how HOT liquids will be since the exterior is completely cool.I recommend this 100%. The price is a little high imo ($5 less and this would be perfect), but I am a cheap bastard and it is worth every penny.

SIMPLY THE BEST FULL STOP!! Part Two
Part One I walk around all day sipping my coffee. I lost my old Timmies mug and tried 3 other types of mugs before I decided that I really could afford the price of these Thermos mugs. Expensive but I am in love with them. I bought two because I often leave my mug somewhere unintentionally. BEST money I have ever spent. Keeps my coffee hot for 3 hours and warm for 6 hours. When closed you can literally turn the mug upside down and shake it without even a drop coming out. If you are a mobile coffee drinker like me ...........don't hesitate any longer. These are perfect. I wish I had have sprung the money for them decades ago!! Thank you Thermos. Worth every penny. Part Two So it's 3:20pm. Filled my mug with hot coffee and headed out for chores. Got home at 3pm and sat down and had a sip of my half filled mug. STILL HOT!! Decided that given how I love this mug I really ought to write up an Amazon review. LOL Turns out I had already written one well over a year ago. (It's hell to be almost 70 and cannot remember things sometimes!) Being bored, I read some of the critical reviews. Most of them seem to deal with how hard it is to clean the top or top leaks sometimes when sipping. Well..............First of all I only clean the top about once every 2 months. I'm a dirty bugger what can I say! That said, I too once had it leaking when sipping once. Was very angry as I ruined a clean shirt. Caused me to make a better effort to clean the seal that goes around the top. As I peeled the seal/rubber washer under running water at the sink I saw all kinds of black crud coming off the top. Long story short. When you take the effort to scrub the top clean, just be sure to take off the seal/ rubber washer and then put it back on. Make sure it goes back on the same way as it has a correct way and one that won't work. Total clean time to clean and resolve any leaking issue....... 90 seconds every 2 months. Still loving and totally impressed with my 2 x Thermos mugs. The best still!

THE best travel mug!
I have purchased many, many travel mugs. These are worth every penny and more. They keep my tea hot all day and they don't leak! I make two teas in the morning and these are still hot in the afternoon. I will make tea at work when I can but when I need to drink from one of my travel mugs, I'm not disappointed.
