Clint Eastwood, John Saxon and Robert Duvall star in this classic Western directed by John Sturges. Former bounty hunter Joe Kidd (Eastwood) is recruited by wealthy New Mexico landowner Frank Harlan (Duvall) to help deal with an uprising led by Mexican revolutionary Luis Chama (Saxon). Although reluctant to get involved at first, Kidd finally agrees when Harlan informs him Chama has raided his own ranch while on a rampage through the county. However, when Kidd witnesses Harlan's ruthless treatment of local villagers while attempting to flush Chama out, he decides to take matters into his own hands.

'JOE KIDD' PLAYS BY HIS OWN RULES.
screen legend 'Clint Eastwood' plays a familiar role as a no-nonsenselone gunman.'Joe Kidd' is hired by land baron 'Frank Harlam' to track down 'LuisChama''Luis Chama' fronts the claim on land for his people, all relevantpaperwork having been lost in a fire, 'Frank Harlam' owns much of theland being claimed by 'Mexican' 'Chama' for his fellow countrymen.'Joe' doesn't like the way 'Frank' conducts business as a consequenceof which he changes sides.plenty of gun action follows.not one of 'Clint's' best perhaps, however his screen presence is asalways - 'Dominant'sadly, picture quality is not as good as it might have been, film studio'sknow that films with screen heroes such as 'Clint' will be in demandwhen released on this format, just feel more consideration in upgradingshould be normal practice...when you see the picture quality on Blu-ray of even older films such as'Lawrence of Arabia' and 'Zulu' among many.....it just proves it can bedone ???

Brilliant Film
This is one of Clint Eastwood's best films with brilliant performances from Robert Duvall as Frank Harlan and John Saxon as Luis Chama. The film has a brilliant story about a stranger called Joe Kidd who arrives in a New Mexican Town of Sinola where Luis Chama has organized a revolt against the local landowners who are throwing the poor off land that's rightfully theirs. However when a posse supported by Landowner Frank Harlan is formed to capture Luis, Kidd is invited to join but prefers to remain neutral. The posse capture five mexican hostages and threaten to kill them unless Luis surrenders to them. Kidd later on betrays the posse and saves the Mexican hostages afterwards kidd captures Luis and delivers him to the sheriff.

One of the less well known Westerns staring Clint Eastwood but well worth watching. Clint Eastwood stars as a bounty hunter, Joe Kidd, who is hired by a wealthy landowner, Frank Harlan (played by Robert Duvall), to track down a Mexican freedom fighter. But, in typical Clint Eastwood fashion, Joe Kidd has his own ideas about the outcome of the chase. This western, directed by John Sturges, is full of action and well worth watching.

Pure manliness
A film that helps men to ‘man up’ and for women to swoon over.

Is it "Joe Kidd" or "Joked"
For me this is a bit of a strange Eastwood film, the story has the usual tropes you would expect and there are some familiar faces that turn up and some of of the cinematography is indeed great however there is an underlying inescapable feeling that the whole film was created from a trailer. Sure there is a narrative running throughout but the film just comes accross as flat, there doesn't seem to be tension in a scene where it should exist. It's unfortunate really as this could have been a decent film however in my opinion there just isn't any substance to it if you haven't seen it, to be honest you're not really missing anything.
