Really Good book
I bought this book earlier this year but didn't get to read it till July. It was a very trying time for me and I thank God for His help in various ways. This book is quick to read and I have a big library and even collect some authors so I don't like to highlight as I like my books to look pristine even if they're from 1920 but even I highlighted and made notes in this.Perfect for confusing times and periods of fear. God is in Control.

The Good Doctor
Not all of them can be grand slams. But it is more than a bunt. Not quite the in depth extended exegesis that one can come to expect from the Good Doctor. This is a much more shallow and slender exposition by Lloyd-Jones. Compared to the 14 volume Exposition on Romans or 8 volumes on Ephesians, it leaves wanting. But it is still a great exposition of the Book of Habakkuk. Excellent outline but does leave you wishing he had gone deeper.

An Essential Text....
This careful examination of the book of Habakkuk is one of my favorite texts. Dr. Lloyd-Jones demonstrates that the prophet's response to an impending crises should be a model of how we face the chaos and turbulence of our modern world and in our personal lives. After reading this small book, I feel as if I have been given the key to understanding the essential nature of prayer: petition comes only after approaching God with true humility and adoration. I recommend this book to anyone seeking to build a solid christian library.

This is a great book! Even though it was written in 1950 it is extremely relevant for our day. I've read it at least three times, and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to better understand what God is doing in our world.

For troubling times
This was my introduction to Lloyd-Jones, and it ranks with his magnum opus The Sermon on the Mount. Written in the UK during WWII, Lloyd-Jones takes the Minor Prophet Habakkuk's message to comfort troubled believers. It was my introduction to theodicy, and it made a great deal of sense. I had ignored Habakkuk, which now is one of my favorite books of the Hebrew Scriptures. This is a book heavy on exposition, making it applicable to any troubled time. This would be excellent for a group study, and is essential reading for any clergy preaching on Habakkuk.

Incredible
This book's message was totally unexpected. I feel like it was written just for me - really blew me away. It answers the dilemma of the problem of evil we face in today's world and our response to it like no other.

A Masterpiece on the exposition of the book of Habakkuk
I just started reading the book and right from the beginning, seeing the narrative/argument being made for what Habakkuk is experiencing as a person on the problem of evil and God's response to it!!That moved me so much that i read the Habakkuk and the clarity and the insight Dr. MLJ is profound. You start to see the clear picture right from the verse 1 and can relate what was bothering Habakkuk and the reply from God and so on.Can't wait to complete it and understand what God's word says in Habakkuk.I must say, you have to read this book - if not for the sake of the title, but at least to understand what God has to say through the book of Habakkuk.

A most needed series of (6) messages
Excellent preaching series (as one can expect) from D. M. Lloyd-Jones. Preaching through the book of Habakkuk, in the aftermath of the II World War in Europe and with rising fear and instability brought on by the Cold War, Lloyd-Jones relevantly relates the message of the prophet to a contemporary audience. God is indeed still in control. More than that, He is actively bringing about His purposes in world history, through, nevertheless, surprising means. He can be trusted; there is no need for fear; God can still be trusted. And with the current global uncertainty, it is good to know that God is still working out His perfect will.
