These shoes feature a black canvas construction with a reinforced cotton sole or bubble gum sole. The cotton sole provides you with easier mobility indoors to prevent the restriction of movementwhile the bubble gum sole provides both indoor and outdoor. These shoes are comfortable and durable enough for the most rigorous Kung Fu, Tai Chi training.

Good traditional Chinese cotton sole shoe
Traditional shoes, cotton soles for indoor use. If you want to wear them outside then get the rubber sole version. Yes, they are a bit slippery on bare floors although not bad, good on everything else. Very comfortable! Size is exact IF you use the metric measurements- measure your foot in centimeters then use the size chart. For me it worked out to 27cm foot which was a size 43. Converting from US size to metric isn't a good way to do it, just measure your foot with a metric ruler and use that- it's much more accurate. They were a bit tight at first, but an hour of wearing them and now they fit perfectly! Remember, these are slip on shoes, so the should be tight at first. They are not very good for wearing during karate practice (remember, they are slip on shoes!), but they are great for wearing around the dojo before and after practice. I would certainly not hesitate to buy them again.

Order one size up!
I like the way it feels! It’s very comfortable and soft, makes my tai chi practice a lot better. I usually wear size 6.5 wide or 7 medium, that’s UK size 37 for sneakers. It was a little too tight and narrow, I stuffed lots of crumbled up papers into the shoes and stretched them for 48 hours, now it fits perfect. I love it, and I definitely will order it again. Just remember it’s only for indoor use, or it’ll get ruined pretty quickly.

Worked perfect for a great fit
I wanted a pair of shoes for indoors Tai Chi class. As stated by others the bottoms are slippery but that's what I wanted for smoother turns. I was very careful to measure my feet from big toe to heal and then added just a tad so my toes wouldn't pinch. Worked perfect for a great fit. I don't wear them outside of the class. Not even to the bathroom. Company claims they are washable but I just have that feeling It would be problematic so I will just use a slightly damp cloth to wipe out the insides and outsides and air dry them. They are very comfortable to wear. If you are looking for a comfortable shoe to wear out doors try a moccasin. They have the same kind of soft feel on the feet but come with various types of soles..I hope this helps.

Comfortable shoes
I went with the size chart to determine what size to buy. The number seemed too high when compared to my Birkenstock sizes, but I did it anyway. It's a tiny bit large but okay with socks; so, I am pleased with it. The soles are a bit slippery, but the reviews said they would "rough up" as I used them -- they are not slippery at a dangerous level. So, overall, I am very pleased with this purchase. It's serving exactly the purpose I wanted.

Decent Shoe, Not for Martial Arts. And, Be Sure to Measure!
I bought these shoes because I needed some non-slip footwear for karate class. I wear a 10 US so I got a 43 according to the sizing chart for men. Unfortunately, there's about a half of an inch of room at the tip of the shoe. The shoes don't fit badly, though. The sides and back fit snug enough that you could walk around in them without a shoe slipping off. Another user mentioned actually measuring your foot heel to toe and ordering the corresponding size off of the sizing chart. I would definitely recommend doing that, and leaning smaller rather than larger, especially since these shoes are made of stretchable material. I'm going to try to shrink my pair in the wash since it's past time for me to return them (and since the returning procedure seems like a hassle). I will update with how that goes. Also, note that the seller has a 10 day return window, so if you don't place a return by then, the sale is final. Here's what I think is most important to note about this shoe: it is NOT suitable for Kung Fu, Karate, or whatever other physical activity you may do in them that requires quick and constant movements. If you are using these shoes for Tai-Chi or some light work you should be fine even if you don't size down. If you are using these shoes on carpet, rubber mats, or maybe some other textured material, you should be fine even if you don't size down. However, these shoes do not work well in martial arts, because the soles are slippery on hardwood and other smooth surfaces, and because (as in my case) if you don't get a snug fit all-around, the heel tends to slip off when training. I finally got to use these shoes in actual karate training today (instead of just walking around or messing around at home). I could not stabilize myself all that well to throw kicks. My pivot foot would continue to spin or just generally feel unsteady. It was basically hard to keep balance. Then when we did a footwork drill, I was able to keep from sliding *so much*, but the heel slipped off the back of one of the shoes and I knew it would only be a matter of time before I slipped and fell. I initially hoped that I could break the soles in or adapt to the unsteadiness when I went to train. But, it doesn't seem like that will be feasible so far.The shoes are comfortable, even with the toe room, and I can do most things in them, so I can't disparage them too much. It is obvious that the shoes would be satisfactory as house slippers or Tai Chi shoes. However, the generally slippery soles and imprecise sizing make it so I can't use the shoes how I intended. For now, my rating is 3 stars, but I'll continue to wear and experiment with the shoes to see if they become more manageable.Edit 8/25/14: I was able to shrink the shoes in the wash- they definitely fit better than they did before. I didn't wash them too hot before I dried them because the shoes weren't ridiculously oversized for me. One important thing to note though- the color on the shoes seems to come off a bit. Mine looked especially faded in some spots and I think the shoes may have left residue on the walls of my dryer. I recommend using light detergent and one of those dryer shoe racks if you choose to machine-dry your shoes. One last thing- the shoe soles are still pretty slippery. Doesn't look like I'm going to be doing much martial arts in these. But, I guess I got a decent pair of slippers out of them, so I can't complain too much.

The real deal
Perfect house shoes. I go through multiple pairs every year. Easily the most comfortable slippers for indoor use and I really appreciate the lack of synthetic materials in the construction. Perfect for tai chi, chi gung, or any energy practice. Essential for travel, very useful for anyone who would prefer not being barefoot on hotel carpets or hallways.I wear a size 8 in most shoes, size 7-1/2 in some. Size 40 fits perfectly in these.Buyers should be aware that deterioration rate seems to increase if the soles ever get wet, inside or out, so care should be taken to keep them dry.

Too narrow: not recommended
These shoes run too narrow and I can not recommend them, unless you have a very narrow foot. I have three pairs the same size (42) from different suppliers, and this brand is 1/4" narrower at the toe box than the other two brands I have. I have to try wetting the material and stretching it by pushing bottles into the shoe to make it fit better, but it still leaves the shoe base too narrow. This type of shoe can be quite comfortable and inexpensive, but this particular brand is not made to appropriate size specifications.

Excellent.
I am totally satisfied with my purchase. The product was as described and excellent quality. It’s the cloth soles I required and have had a difficult time sourcing them. If I need more (and I will) I will be using this supplier.
