Hal Leonard Mandolin Method - Book 2

Hal Leonard publishes great music books, and this book is no exception. A great approach to the mandolin and note reading. Each lesson has a song to learn. My only comment would be to buy the edition with the CD or access to website audio, because some of the songs were unknown to me.

If you want to learn how to play the mandolin this is one of the best books to buy and use. There is a companion edition that goes with this by the same publisher.

I have just gotten into the beginning of the book, but there is a logical progression and the lessons build on each other. Perfect for an intermediate player, who wants to learn theory.

I have book one and this follow-up book looks as good as the first. I will say, as a former teacher, book one progress' a little too fast for a beginner. However, I found it to be very good and look forward to book 2

I received book one with my mandolin purchase and liked it. Thought I'd continue with book two which I am very pleased with.

Very thorough follow-up to Book 1. Tons of good stuff to learn!

This should be book one..too basic

Book 1 is great and has an audio link so you can play along/hear what you're trying to achieve with each lesson. BE WARNED - Book 2 can either come with or without the audio link depending upon when it was printed. By mistake I bought this version (without the link) not realising that there are two versions. After a while I realised that there is an audiolink versions when browsing the Hal Leonard website so I emailed Hal Leonard Corporation explaining and asking for a code for the link. Their response was that because of copyright they couldn't do this. They suggested that I bought the audio link version from their website!!! Or that I contact Amazon to undertake an exchange for an audio link version. Given that I had already used the one I'd bought and so it is now dog-eared and coffee-stained I haven't done this.

This was recommended by my mandolin teacher. I will have pleasure working my way through it.

Clear and concise

I can hardly wait to start using this book with my teacher. We are finishing up Method 1 and I am progressing great with Hal Leonard Books.

You have to pay attention to the tab as is corresponds with the chords.
