Felled Flat Adze Woodworking Tool Wood Carving Axe - Straight Edge with 18 Inch Long Adze Handle

This is a great heavy tool for removing/rough shaping wood. I use mine to make archery bows. It’s a bit crude, needs sharpening, but once this was done it worked great. You don’t see too many adze these days. This is a good one!

More like a kit. Handle has to be attached and it barely has a bevel on the blade. I’ll have to sharpen then assemble it.

It's got some heft to it, and it has a fairly aggressive curve but it's working well so far.

You get what you pay for. The thick black paint covered the very chipped edge. It is ok if you know how and plan on putting some time into fixing.

Clear stress fracture at the angle. Do not buy.The adze head arrived dull, and covered in thick black paint. With a couple hours of work I could have filed away the paint and set an edge and then put in the work of sharpening it. The blade edge however showed a CHIP or ROLL on one side. Even this I could fix with more filing and sharpening, but at the center of the edge, right next to the angle, there was a 1/8 inch CRACK (still visible through the paint) on the outer edge of the blade. It is clearly from being bent to shape at too cold a temperature during manufacture, which implies that the crack at the edge follows the entire angle. This a FATAL FLAW in a striking tool.

Of course due to the cost it's not the top of line product, people b**** about it not being sure however how do you send something that's regular sharp through the mail? So you do have to sharpen it however if you're using this you should at least have some minimum knowledge on how to do this.

Ugh, I wish it wasn't bent into a V. I got this because I'm trying to carve a big wooden bowl out of a stump and the hull is real choppy and will likely take me more time to smooth out than expected because this tool is a V rather than scoop or U shaped.

I guess I’ve got myself a rainy day make work project - this is an incomplete woodworking tool blank that will require many hours of grinding and honing to produce a useable tool. If you are looking for a tool you can use right out of the box keep looking this isn’t it.Should come at a 50% discount as the end user has to complete the process of producing a woodworking tool from this rough metal slug.
