Deep in the Mexican jungle, a legendary creature lurks in a radioactive swamp. Is it a man? Is it an octopus? No, it s OCTAMAN! Okay, it s a man in an octopus suit, but he s really angry and decides to go on a light killing spree. A scientific expedition sets out to study this atomic mutant and stop it before it kills again. They re not very good at it, since Octaman kills quite a lot probably because THE DUMB SCIENTISTS KEEP STEALING ITS BABIES! It seems there s no stopping the monster until it develops a crush on the plucky lady scientist Susan Lowry (Pier Angeli) and does what all mutant sea creatures like to do - it knocks her out and carries her away. Will the rest of the team be able to rescue Susan before Octaman picks them all off one by one? Looks pretty doubtful! That s the thrill of Octaman! Directed by the writer of Creature From the Black Lagoon, and featuring costumes and effects by a young Rick Baker, Octaman is a wonderfully awful rubber monster B-movie. This live show also features a delightful short, McGruff s Drug Alert, which is sure to spark debates about whose costume was crappier, McGruff or Octaman. Pray that they don't make a sequel to this!
A sword-wielding, maverick hero and his reptilian sidekick get involved in the search for a kidnapped pair of royal siblings, and...aww, who cares? These warmed-over leftovers from BUCK ROGERS, FIREFLY, and every other swashbuckling TV space opera you can think of are perfect Rifftrax fodder, not just for the wall-to-wall sci-fi cliches, word salad dialogue, and early '90s special effects (sadly, the movie was made in 2017), but for a cast whose least embarrassing performances come from kung fu movie veterans Cynthia Rothrock and James Lew, and from Johnny Rico himself, a now middle-aged Casper Van Dien as *cough* Saber Raine. There's an ending setting us up for a sequel that I pray will never be made. The riffers are firing on all cylinders, and they're the only reason this movie is worth watching.

So good!
The riffs are solid and necessary. Loved seeing it live and glad it's here.

excellent, to me, and, as usual...
a double excellent Rifftrax via their kind of former, MS3000, style to what seems to still be an utterly, undeniably, horrible, silly, goofy...or, whatever, "movie"........

LOL
I couldn't go to bed after watching this as I laughed for a couple hours after the end. I wish they had subtitles as some of the "live" comments are drowned out by the audience. Good stuff.

Octaman Live
I couldn't wait for this movie to end. The jokes were subpar for the most part. The funniest thing was the McGruff short. Octaman was mostly boring.
