FiiO E6 is a Portable Headphone Amplifier designed to improve the sound quality and volume of any portable audio source such as MP3 players, iPods, personal media players, mobile phones, laptops, notebooks/netbooks, or portable CD players. It is an upgraded model of the popular E5 Headphone amplifier. The E6 retains all of the advantages of the E5 while adding new features and a substantial boost in performance, all inside a very small and stylish case. With built-in volume controls, the E6 can be used with the line-level output of audio sources for even better sound quality. Compared with the E5, the E6 offers higher gain, additional bass boost levels, input sensitivity adjustment to handle "hot" source signals, and a lock switch to prevent unintended button presses. As a result, the E6 provides superior sound qualilty and works even better with high impedance headphones. Three EQ profiles are available for flat and two bass-boost levels, allowing additional flexibility in obtaining optimal tonal match with different headphones. Adds volume and clarity; is small and light
I purchased this to make listening to music on long air flights more pleasurable. The constant low roar of jet engines and air friction is quite the sound force to confront while you are a passenger. Legitimate noise-cancelling headphones are expensive and cumbersome to carry as luggage as you travel from place to place. Instead, I chose to purchase something(s) small and easy to carry. I purchased improved ear buds as well as this amplifier, that is smaller (and thinner) than a matchbook. When using this, clarity at lower volume levels is evident. At higher volume levels, the amplitude was increased enough such that jet engine and other ambient sounds experienced on flight, were effectively drowned out. Note that the earbuds I used blocked out a majority of unwanted noise on their own account. The item is easy to charge, but I do not have enough experience to say the battery lasts over 4 hours. The built-in equalizer is effective but my preference was to leave it off. I was pleasantly surprised with this product and recommend it. Although many may feel little or no improvement in sound, others will notice noticable and significant differences that would validate the purchase of this cool electronic amp.Pros:small and light, not expensiveadds clarity at low volumesincreases overall volumeeasy and quick to charge (usb)works well with Y cable (2 listeners)probably increased battery life of phonehelps drown out airplane noiseCons:You cannot control "pause" "play" "skip" as these options for control are not passed through unitextra piece of hardware to carry

Useful, but subtle
This amp is great for raising the volume of my headset while plugged into relatively quiet sources like my PS4 controller, but the impact on audio quality and clarity is minimal, or at least very difficult for me to detect. The amp recharges with a mini-USB cable, not a standard micro-USB cable, so it's less convenient but not as much of an issue if you you ever play a PS3, since its controller is charged through mini-USB. Don't get this expecting magic, but do get it if your device is a bit too quiet and you want louder audio. Also, the Micca Y cable works in some cases but the quality of the materials is really low. It worked with one of my computers, but not my laptop and not my PS4 controller - the main reason I got the combo with the Y cable. Apparently you need a Y cable with one more ring around the plug if you want it to work with those devices. :/

Good with one issue
I drive a king cab Tacoma and I love to drive with the windows down. The stock radio wasn't loud enough to play my phone MP3's via mini plug input. This little bugger did the trick. By little I mean about 1 inch square. It comes with a 4 inch mini plug M/M cable which I replaced with a longer cable to secure the amp to another place. The Y cable is there but for what reason I don't know. There are 4 eq settings amplified normal, amplified treble, amplified bass, and super bass. All work as advertised although the directions are a little sketchy. Super Bass Thumps my truck pretty good without distortion. In fact max vol on all 4 settings provided clear music and it at least doubled the normal output. Now keep in mind this is a phone I'm using so take it with a grain of salt since they limit the output for legal reasons.I charged it initially to max (it is completely depleted on arrival. Took a couple hours, not sure exactly but less than 3 for sure. I have 6 hours of playing time so far and it's working fine. Once it dies I will update the time and mentioned whether it can be charged and used at the same time. May cause the recurrence of my gripe written below. The only bad thing is that if feels flimsy in my hand and leaving it in my truck today it got warm and the slider switch toTurn it on and change modes would stick so I would have to slide it up and pull it back in order to switch to my preferred setting. Once ac cooled the truck down it started working fine.

The perfect portable headphone amp solution
I've recently purchased an AKG K240 set, which are studio grade cans that require a bit of juice to deliver yummy sound (Referenced as 55 ohms). I own both a Toshiba Gigabeat and a Zune HD, both produced little to no sound when plugged directly through the 3.5mm jacks something that worried me a bit until I researched the matter further and came to the realization that these cans simply were not getting enough power to drive sound and that I needed a portable amp. This is where the FiiO comes in. There are very few devices I've come across that I can safely label as "dumb-proof" this is proudly one of them. Even if it did not come with any instructions you would still be able to figure out how to use it.You simply plug the thing into a USB charger or even your computer. Let it charge for a few hours, and that's it. You're set. Grab your choice of 3.5mm cables. Fujiyama gives you two lengths. A short one and a longer one. I ususlly rock the short one and tuck the FiiO with my portable player.Operation:----------With the FiiO set at 100%, I am usually at 80% with my Zune HD and get very clear and loud sound. Granted, this all depends on what your portable player is able to deliver as well as the media you are playing. So check your equipment and files before you blame this little Amp for bad quality audio.Build Quality:--------------This thing can probably use some better material and molds, but I did not buy it to stare at it. I bought it to plug it in and go. The plastic feels a bit cheap, and the overall shape/structure is definitely not the strongest and will easily break if not treated with care.Value:------Portable Amp for less than $30.. need I say more? Just go and grab one.Who's this for?---------------This WILL NOT enhance the music quality of your cheap iPod headphones or the generic Samsung pair that came with your cellphone. This device was made for those that want to use Studio-level equipment with their portable players. Using this device with regular headphones will only make the sound louder and more distorted.Conclusion:-----------Best $30 I have ever spent. I am now able to enjoy music from my portable players while utilizing high quality cans. Music now sounds the way it does when I'm home.
