His to Protect (The Vampire’s Past 1): MM Paranormal Vampire Romance

Loved the characters and the story-line kept me reading cover to cover. The world-building created an interesting foundation and i really liked the introduction to the characters. Slightly different casting on the perceptions of each character and i think the story will have a few unexpected angles. So cool! The threads of the mystery are teasingly being given to us and i know that this author will take us on a windy and twisty road over the next few months to a very satisfying HEA. Sean and Jules have an intense connection and i am looking forward to seeing where it goes. This is a several part series, so if you don't like cliffhangers, then wait to buy the books when they have all been released.

This is an insta-love story for the two main characters, Jules and Sean. It was an okay story. I had tons of questions about holes in the stories: We don't know how Jules being a vampire and a runaway is able to attend classes without notice - you would think his parents are looking for him and the hunters are targeting him. And he's supposed to be working too but that's all that's mentioned; we don't know what kind of work and how he works considering he can only go out at sunset. The minor characters were too cliche to be interesting. Sean's high school friend, Darren, was a typical homophobic jock. I didn't understand why Sean wanted to hang out with him. Or Darren to Sean. The best part, what was interesting to me, is the mystery behind Lance's behavior, and why he's betraying Jules. I had wanted to know about that and how the hunter caught up to him. But the story ended abruptly. So this is a warning for those who hates major cliff-hangers. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Very basic but good read

This is Part #1 of a great Book!! This is a new to me Author and I'm finding I like them very much. Jules and Seth meet by chance. Both guys are taking a course at a local college. Jules being a vampire makes him a little different. Seth being a distracted human has no idea. This is a really fantastic beginning. I'm so looking forward to Part # 2.

This was a dark, scary, angst filled book with violence and treachery afoot. Sean is a clean cut, sweet kind of alpha who just wants to finish college so he can get on with his life. Jules is also urgently trying to finish college, only his reasons are far different from Sean's. Jules is a vampire and his life has been nothing but darkness, grief and feelings of never being safe. Now a hunter is after him and his blood donor has gone wacko. Turning to Sean for help, the two try to continue their lives, but the danger is increasing and soon they may have nowhere to turn. This has a cliff hanger ending, so gear up to wait after the second book.

I wish I would've known how good this book was a few weeks ago because I would have read and wrote up my review sooner. I read other books by Rosa Swann before, but amindst all the books I read I'd forgotten how much I enjoy her writing style. It's been awhile since I've read a book featuring a Vampire main character. This book is poignant. It's not your typical Vampire tale. It's a story of two nontraditional college students. One a little older, the other a Vampire. A smaller pale "weakling", still with some super Human strength though. A young man reluctantly returns home. He left when he graduated from high school - a pariah for bravely Coming Out. Several years later he comes back because of his job's requirement to finish certain college courses. Sean finds former friends & "faux friends". When he notices the skinny, long haired, too pale guy in his evening class, he is unexpectedly surprised to feel an attraction. Jules the Vampire feels an attraction also, but he has more pressing problems. His living situation with a larger Donor has become untenable. The guy has a serious drinking problem and now the roommate begins to act irrationally jealous and overly possessive. But worse of all is his aggressiveness has become terrifying. Especially with Jules being in a weakened state due to not wanting to feed regularly from a drunk. The tainted blood leaving Jules feeling the negative after effects of a hangover. It seems hard to believe that a Vampire needs the assistance of a Human after being terrorized by a different Human. Why would the Vampire be so susceptible to the domestic violence of an unhinged, but devious Human; bent on hurting Jules. Considering all that he has endured, why does he feel so safe with Sean, a Human after how he's been badly treated by a variety of Humans? Jules confounds Sean. But he is determined not to give up on him or so he claims. Sean does have a breaking point and Jules pushed him to it. Is there anything Jules can do to get his forgiveness? I truly enjoyed this book despite it ending with a CLIFFHANGER!!! Noooo!! I can't wait for Book 2 in this series. I have to...I need to know what happens next!

I really wasn’t sure how to rate this book. The storyline is good but, unfortunately there are consistent errors in sentence structure and incorrect words on almost every page. It’s so annoyingly distracting that I began to cringe as I turned the page. There are two protagonists...Jules and Sean. Jules is a vampire going to school at night. Sean used to live in the area but moved away to go to college (he couldn’t wait to get away from the small-minded people) but now has returned to go to college (?). The two meet in class and there is a strong attraction. Jules has a roommate who has been trying to kill him so he moves in with Sean. There is a lot of drama and self-esteem issues and the book ends with a cliffhanger to be continued in volume two. There are a few more issues but I think I’ve pretty much gotten my point across. As I mentioned, it’s a good storyline. The book was only $1 on Amazon and I in no way regret purchasing it but I’m not planning on continuing the series at this point.

Sean moves to his hometown when he gets an opportunity at a dream job. He plans to work there while he finishes getting his degree... Then leave the town where he is judged for being gay. He Then meets sexy and mysterious Jules in class. At first the other man is hesitant but soon a friendship forms and then something more. Jules is a vampire who is just trying to finish his degree before moving on. When his donor\roommate starts to act strangely and is no longer safe to be around, Jules finds himself staying with classmate Sean. He has many secrets he is keeping, he knows he shouldn't get Sean involved, but there is a connection between them that Jules just can't cut. But what happens when the hunters come looking? A fantastic start to the new Vampire's Past series, His to Protect delivers an intriguing story and introduces great characters. I received an Advanced Readers Copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.

Got to say I was in a state of panic leaving the story at the .most exciting bit lol.I was hooked on reading I didn't see the end coming

I will not beat the grammar and structure errors to death. The one thing that bothered me the most is I have no idea what the plot is - well maybe, but it is only part way through and the book ends. There is no resolution, there are no answers to the many, many questions, character development is limited, and -- hello!!? book ends. 169 pages and I feel like we finally left the exposition and entered the rising action only to have the last page arrive and a 'to be continued' sign thrown up.
