A journey through addiction
Prodigal Daughter is true story of Danielle, who is struggling with addiction (alcohol, marijuana and Adderall) The story is told from the point of view of a father and daughter, which are interwoven throughout the book. Both Rob and Danielle speak candidly about their thoughts as they walk through the journey of addiction and recovery. The story flows from admitting to the addiction and seeking help, to finding a treatment plan, Danielle's time in rehab, and her journey after rehab making the transition to a normal life. Rob speaks of his struggles of dealing with addiction from a father's perspective- seeking help for Danielle and walking the line between worry, enabling, being overly controlling and trusting God/Danielle on this journey. The writing flows easy and the transitions between the two perspectives are smooth. This book is a good resource for those struggling with addiction and their families or friends. It is a good source for people who are working to help others overcome addiction but it is also for everyone, as we all have weaknesses and struggles. We may not struggle with addiction to drugs or alcohol but we have weaknesses and this book shows us how to trust God, let go, and let God help us. Learning who we are and walking with God along the path. Just a suggestion would be including resources to call for support or other books to read. Also maybe include some information on AA programs and Celebrate Recovery programs. I recommend reading this book so grab your copy today.

Very valuable resource for those suffering with addiction, whether theirself or a family or friend
It's a really good book. The story is sometimes tough to read, through the eyes of a Pastor and his addicted daughter, but I feel it gives deep insight to the world of addiction. Sadly, there are many people who view those who suffer from addiction, no matter what that addiction may be, as a selfish choice. If they really loved their family, or if they really loved their kids, or, if they really, "...(fill in the blank)…" they would choose to get better. That they love the object of their addiction over anything else, when that is simply not true and this story lends itself to being empathetic to the addict's struggle as well as a family's sometimes shame and awful struggle. A much needed resource in the Christian community. Please note, I was given an advanced copy as a member of the launch team.

Honest & Helpful Book For Parents & Their Children
This an awesome book! For parents struggling through difficult times with their child (and who hasn’t?) now, or in the past, due to substance abuse. This gives you hope that things can get better. It helps to know that such things happen to the best of families and it’s not always the parent’s fault, as most of us parents tend to think. Pastor Koke gives an honest, heartfelt description of what his life was like during this difficult journey. His daughter shares her honest account of her own pain and suffering. Kudos to this family for opening their personal life to other people going through the same.

Candid, yet hopeful
Prodigal Daughter is an unvarnished portrayal of the effects of addiction on families . . . the endless worry, the shame, the self-doubt, and the wrestling with God. Ultimately, though, it’s a book of hope and healing. This book will appeal to a wide range of readers, including 1) parents whose kids struggle with addiction, 2) anyone who works with young people and/or counsels those with drug and alcohol addictions, and 3) anyone who’s ever battled an addiction themselves. Recommend!

Must read for anyone
I was part of the launch team for this book. I also work in addictions. I can't recommend this book enough. It is an easy read and the story is gripping. I think what I liked the most is you got the perspective of the person with an addiction and the family member. I've read many books on addiction that have one side or the other, but to have both is awesome! Pick it up, spend a few hours, it will encourage and uplift you. Recovery is possible, not easy, but possible.

You can relate to a loved one and find peace
This book will give you perspective if you have a loved one who is dealing with addiction. My brother hasn't spoken to me in over 3 years and I couldn't figure out why he feels a certain way about me. This book helped me understand how his mind is processing life as an addict. This hit me so hard!"Addicts lie to others and to themselves so often that they forget the difference between lies and reality."
