Great flavor for a grated Parmesan cheese!
I'm used to using freshly grated cheese from a wedge of Parmesan. The flavor and texture really can't be beat. When I think of grated parmesan from a jar, I think of caustic tasting kind that comes in a green can. I decided to try Delallo cheese based on the great reviews on Amazon. I'm glad I did, because it's really good! The flavor isn't as deep as you would get in a freshly grated cheese, but it's pretty good for a canned cheese. The flavor is a little milder and doesn't have that harsh aftertaste that I detect from the one in the green can. It's more nutty, less sharp. I don't think it would make a good substitute for fresh grated in recipes where the Parmesan flavor should be more pronounced, but I think it's perfect for topping pasta.Note that this isn't pure grated cheese. It contains corn flour and cellulose to prevent the cheese from caking. Potassium sorbate is added to prevent loss of flavor.

Great!
This is a cheaper version of what we're all used to - but I actually like the taste better than more well known brands. It tastes great and arrived with an expiration date long into the future. We go through a lot of this type of cheese and now that we are no longer near a wholesale store, this seems like the cheapest option. Very happy with this purchase. It isn't fresh Italian cheese - but for part cheese and part filler it is pretty darn good!

Who knew?
I have to admit I'm a bit of a food "snob." I wouldn't have dreamed of using dried/powdery "cheese in a jar," let alone serving it to company. I was visiting friends, and this is what they offered to go on a casual spaghetti-and-marinara lunch. Hey, I'll try anything once, but I certainly wasn't expecting much.I was totally surprised! This stuff is seriously good! It has the flavor of decent-quality fresh parmesan, the kind you can get in the little tubs in the deli section of most grocery stores. OK, so it's not as good as freshly grated parmesan from a wedge, but it's also not as expensive, either.I'm a convert -- this is some seriously good cheese, perfect for pizza, pasta, and salads.

Best non-fresh parmesan I have tasted
I bought this based on the other reviews, and I am glad I did. We have switched to the 'fresh' kept in dairy parmesan for awhile. But this was a good price so I thought I would give it a chance. It has much more cheese taste, even a little bite, compared to other well known national brands. Also less of a waxy taste. If you are looking for bottled parmesan this is an excellent choice. In some ways even tastier than the 'fresh' we had been getting. One thing it is really fine, almost a powder as much as it is 'grated'.

Not bad, but not terrific
This is not a bad product, but when I think of "shake cheese", as we call mass-market Parmesan, I still think of Kraft. If you grew up using Kraft Parmesan you will probably also be disappointed. I find that the Kraft cheese has more sharpness than the DeLallo.

contains preservatives
This cheese has a good flavor, but contains potassium sorbate - in case that matters to you. Nowhere on the Amazon product page (as of 01/28/2012) indicates this, and I couldn't find this info on the manufacturer's site either.

Old product and not consumable by the expiration date!!!
We purchased these thinking we could use them in about a year or nine months. Do not buy. These are expired in 60 days and we are totally surprised Amazon would offer almost expired product like this!!Don't buy this!!! Amazon refuses to refund or replace any grocery items now. Warning to any potential buyers. We had to donate these to our local food bank so they could use quickly. Amazon should refund our money!

Fine stuff
I'm not a really gourmet guy, but these taste great, but I can't tell from supermarket brand Paresan cheese. Fine for me!
