Since its foundation in 1930, CITIZEN has promoted a multi-cultural mindset that fosters excellence and creativity. The very name of the brand conveys a deep respect toward craftsmanship and considered as familiar by citizens the world-over. So as a “citizen” of the world, we bear the responsibility to help cultivate a culture of positive change and on-going evolution through our craft. We take that mission seriously and steadfastly welcome what the future may bring. As a true manufacture d’horlogerie, CITIZEN integrates a comprehensive manufacturing process from creating individual components to a watch’s final assembly. It’s an artisan’s approach to watch making based on pushing forward the boundaries of technology and leveraging our experience toward exploring new possibilities. One pivotal technological breakthrough was the development of a light-driven watch. CITIZEN pioneered this engineering innovation well ahead of other watch manufacturers as early as 1976, which led to the launch of the highly acclaimed Eco-Drive in 1995. Utilizing electrical power converted from virtually any light source, this extraordinary innovation changed forever the way watches could be powered. Eco-Drive eliminated the need to ever replace batteries, which made it especially beneficial to areas where such specialist batteries were not obtainable. This leveled the field for citizens of virtually every country to be able to experience unrestricted joy of wearing and using a CITIZEN watch. The product development policy, “The Fusion of Technology and Beauty,” remains a constant motivation for us to merge cutting-edge technology with perfection of design beauty, which as a consequence inspires people to strive to be their best at any time. CITIZEN launches a new campaign in collaboration with Wieden+Kennedy, Better Starts Now. This is the simple belief that no matter who you are or what you do, it is always possible to make something better — and now is the time to start doing it. We believe that better and now are both infinite, and that there is always a next ‘better’ and a new ‘now’ in which you can start pursuing it. It was clear from the onset of this project that we are dedicated to this ideal…not to the past but to the present, and all the way we can improve it. To help communicate this belief to the world we have created a new global CITIZEN brand movie, brand identity and brand website that represents out Better Starts Now philosophy. For a rugged look with a comfortable fit, This Citizen military inspired timepiece fits the bill. The Citizen Military Strap is featured Here in Stainless Steel Case, Black leather Strap with contrast stitching and Black dial. added features include 12/24-hour time, day/date and spherical crystal.

Great watch, could have been perfect watch with minor changes
First, the band specs as listed are wrong; or were when I ordered it. It is NOT an 18mm band. It is most definitely a 20mm band. Says 20 on the underside of the band. I ended up having to return the 18mm NATO-style band I ordered with the watch and re-order a 20mm.Overall an absolutely fantastic watch. A couple of nits, but they do not take away at all from my being satisfied with the purchase. As mentioned the band. This watch seems to me a great field watch. So not sure why the black leather band (not water friendly). Easy enough to swap out, no biggie. To me the watch looks better with a green nylon field band. The size: 37mm is just slightly small for the average American male wrist. Just opinion, but I think 40-42mm would have really made this watch more of a statement piece. Again, doesn't take away from it being a great watch; just think it could have been even greater. Also would have liked a sapphire crystal option. I know the price would jump, but I think this model would have totally been worth it.Sounds like I'm complaining, but really, I love the watch. The luminescence is actually quite nice. Better than I expected. It is not tritium, so don't expect to be blinded. But the hands glow quite well. All night! The hands do fade, but after several hours and at about the same rate that your eyes become more sensitive, so the change is not really an issue. The hour indicators, not so much. Due to their diminutive size, they're all but invisible after an hour or so. If you're wearing the watch while you sleep (like in the field), it's just fine. If you're looking for a night stand clock replacement, you'll have to rely on just the hand position to tell time. Which, if you've graduated 1st grade, is likely not a problem.I've had it swimming, showering, etc and no indication of any water intrusion.I've owned several Citizen watches (first Eco-Drive), and this one lives up to the others' performance. Which is to say, they are great watches.

Perfect Basic Watch with Excellent Readability--even in the Dark
This Eco-Drive model perfectly fits my need for a wear-and-forget watch. I wanted an analog watch with large, easy-to-see numbers--even at night. I need nothing fancy, though it does have the day/date feature. The leather wrist band fits my relatively thin wrist; I normally need to have links removed from metal wrist bands. The 37mm diameter of the face is just the right size--not too big. It is not a thin watch, but neither is it too thick and clumsy to wear.My hope is that this watch will give me several years of service without any intervention or repair, for its design and Eco-Drive technology omit that irritating, short-lived battery that must be replaced every year or so in standard quartz watches. The watch is not dressy. It looks rather like a sport watch, for the stainless steel has a matte rather than bright finish. Perhaps it would look out of place with a three piece suit in a corporate boardroom. However, I'm just a retired guy who wanted an easy-to-read, rugged, long-lasting basic watch that isn''t too bulky, and this particular Citizen Eco-Drive seems to fit the requirement perfectly.

Perfect blend of Military style and modern technology.
Looks great, does not scream "Look at me!" Size is just right for a thinner wrist. Leather band is soft and feels good on wrist.

Very nice watch!
Very nice watch. Well pleased. Face and hands are very easy and clear to read. Finish is what I would expect from Citizens. Band is one of the best leather bands I have seen and felt. Band is the right length. Not too short like many leather bands. I have another Citizens Eco Drive watch and it is approaching eight years with no problems. It has held up great. Highly recommended.

A Great Watch From a Fantastic Watch Manufacturer
This is the second Citizen Eco Drive watch I've owned. The first was purchased more than ten years ago and still works great. This new one is a little dressier than my old and, of course, does not bear the marks of ten years of daily use. I fully expect it will give me the same great service as my older Citizen. Eco Drive is great and Citizen gives lots of value for the price. I highly recommend this watch.

Accurate, reliable, and stylish
The watch has been very accurate, gaining perhaps a second every week. For a small wrist, the watch looks good and is very stylish. I've only owned it for a few months, but have had no problems with the mechanism.Update: In early 2017, the day of the week (ie: Mon, Tue,etc). became loose. It no longer moves with the change of day. I will send it off for repairs, which are hopefully covered by a warranty.

Great Watch but .....
I really like this watch, but, if I were to buy again - I'd not bother buying one with a day/date. The Canadian model has both French and English, so half the time the day is displayed in French. Also, I've owned digital displays for years and now with an analog watch, I realize that every month I'll have to adjust the date as well.
