I’m a beginning upholsterer. Finding tge right tools has been true trial and error. But having found this thread for tufting, I found the best!

Used this to attach buttons to a tufted ottoman. Worked great

This nylon twine was great for securing replacement buttons on a recent re-upholstery project. Would definitely purchase again when this roll runs out. You can't go wrong with Osborne products.
