I purchased my 250 DX because we have one at work that seamed to be working fine and two friends of mine purchased 250 DX models
Very let down by this welder. I purchased my 250 DX because we have one at work that seamed to be working fine and two friends of mine purchased 250 DX models because they liked mine.I used my welder very little the first year I owned it (less than 20 hours, i did not even get through a bottle of argon). The second year I used it even less. Then the third year when the work came in, the motherboard failed. The story is basically the same for the other 3 250 DX owners. The motherboard failed with very little hours. This is the type of welder you expect to buy and have for many years but in our 4 cases, that was not the reality. Within 3 years, all 4 of us have stopped using them and mine is currently a workbench. Two of the other owners purchased Chinese 250 amp inverters for almost a fifth of the cost of the 250 DX and they have been rock solid with heavy use. Very disappointing, I try to go with domestic manufacturers but in this case its not worth it.From my experience, there is a 100% failure rate of the motherboards within 3 years (only 4 examples but still 100%). Buy with caution. The motherboard replacements are still around $1000.Get your act together Miller!

Nothing to say except I love it. This is the workhorse
Nothing to say except I love it. This is the workhorse. I have this unit and the coolmate water cooled torch setup. I wouldn't be without it. Stable at all settings. Reliable to a fault, never had a problem honest! If you run higher amperage and long passes the water cooled is the way to go. I used to use the aircooled torch, primitive by comparison.

They USED to make great machines. I fully agree with the other review
I have been a life long Miller guy . They USED to make great machines. I fully agree with the other review , this thing eats boards- expensive boards. The old analog boards could always be repaired or replaced cheaply. These new digital machines are a joke . I am going to replace my 3rd board and sell this POS and never look at Miller again. It has cost more in boards and lost business than I can stand. Computers have no place in a high amp industrial machine like this. The first board I bought came with some of new/upgraded big resistor and such so they must know there was a problem. When it works it works beautifully, but put it away for the night and next morning DOA- halfway thru a job. Steer clear and may be Miller will come to their senses.

How and why would all of this computerized crap keep failing and no recourse
Had same issues with ours. Mother boards in all our 350's have been replaced. Of the 7 350 Maxstar's, 2 remain working and the other 5 have fried mother boards that are so expensive we were told it would not be cost effective to repair. Our 2 302 Miller Diesels, both fried mother boards, is this coincidence or planned? How and why would all of this computerized crap keep failing and no recourse. Our old school stuff without the mother board is still churning away without issue after 15 years of heavy use..
