Love These!
We bought four of them for our back yard. Heavy duty construction, easy to assemble and we just love having the option to light them up with a real flame. Looks great around our fire pit! I would definitely recommend these to friends.

Lots of issues which make them not worth the price
I was excited to try these torches because they had both the solar and the flame in one torch. However, after receiving 3 as a gift, I have to say that though I'm happy with them (hey, free!) they really aren't worth the expense. These torches look really nice, but have some serious drawbacks. First, the solar light is hardly noticeable. It's nice for ambiance but if you want actual illumination - forget it. These offer up about as much as a tea light candle, and nothing at all if they don't get enough sun during the day (like when it gets overcast). The second problem is that the torches are too short. We have a ground-level deck and when we put these in the ground they didn't clear the railing. I looked at torch holders to put them on our deck but they run another $15-20 each and these were already $40 each!! We ended up buying an extra torch to take the pole segments from to make the others tall enough. These torches do have some good features. They were easy to put together and have enough weight to them to keep from leaning in the wind. The flame part works beautifully. We filled the torches with Firefly Citronella Tiki Torch Fuel - 32 oz. - Odorless and they burned clean and bright. I like the design, especially that the solar caps come off and can still be used on a table or railing while the torches are lit. And, though we had to buy another torch, it was easy to add segments to increase the height of the pole. If they sold them separately for a reasonable price, I would've added another star.Overall, these are way overpriced for what you get. If they were $25, I would not hesitate to recommend them. As it is, regular flame torches run about $15 so if you need extras like stands or more pole segments, the cost is still reasonable. Further, I got better solar lights on the tops of some shepherd's hooks from Big Lots, which were only $20.

Top doesn't attach easily
Beautiful design however the top didn't stay attached. I tried for 30 minutes to make it work. I was very bummed. I would have bought 4 for our back yard if the top would have stayed on.

They are beautiful for the fist year - but will not last
We purchased three of these torches. One of the three solar tops quit working very quickly. They allowed me to trade that for a new one. Now (even after installing new batteries) none of the solar lights work in any of them.Taking the screws out of the solar pods I found that water gets into them and rusts out the electronics. They are beautiful for the fist year - but will not last.

Very stylish and like its solar feature so lights up each night
Very stylish and like its solar feature so lights up each night. Doesn't emit a whole lot of light but does give some ambience to an otherwise dark deck each night. Also doubles as a regular torch when lit with the tiki fluid. Bought 3 for our deck and love them. My husband easily found a way to secure them to our railings (he is very handy like that). Only gave four stars b/c the solar part doesn't seem to snap on as well as maybe it could. But snaps on good enough.

These worked great and are highly recommended
For Thanksgiving we had our dinner for 30 people and used these torches to illuminate the backyard. We started with the bulbs automatically coming on at dusk and then when we were ready to move into the backyard, I took the tops off and lit them up -- they worked perfectly! The lit lamps provided a lot of light and added a very relaxed mood to the setting. I used Lamplight Ultra-Pure Paraffin Lamp Oil (it's smokeless and odorless) that I bought from my local Lowes Store (also here: http://smile.amazon.com/Lamplight-60009-Clear-Ultra-pure-32-Ounce/dp/B005CBWIMK/ref=sr_1_1?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1419268612&sr=1-1&keywords=lamplight+ultra-pure+lamp+oil). I got tons of compliments all evening. These worked great and are highly recommended. There is one complaint... The tops don't feel like they're on very secure. In fact, when I first installed them, one of the tops "popped" off and crashed to the ground falling into pieces. Luckily, I was able to reassemble the top, reinstall it, and none have fallen off since. We've had strong winds, stormy weather, etc. and the tops have stayed on. I didn't think it was worth dropping the rating a "star" but it was worth noting.

so I can see that these will stay looking good for a LONG time
THIS IS A QUALITY PRODUCT !!! Well engineered to LAST for many years. For years I bought the cheaper bamboo, which are OK for temporary use, but I use mine in my backyard at night, and the added solar light that acts as a cover when not using the flame. The bamboo ones weather rather quickly if left outside all the time as I leave mine, so I can see that these will stay looking good for a LONG time !

The solar lights / oil lamp is really nice in concept
The solar lights / oil lamp is really nice in concept, however I was disappointed with the quality of workmanship. What should have taken minutes to assemble 2 lamps, took almost an hour. The pole itself comes in sections which have threaded inserts. The inserts were poorly machined making it difficult to assembled. Once assembled, I was unable to unscrew some sections because the threads were off set. The other problem I had was with the wick/filler caps. They were stuck on so tight I almost damaged the fuel reservoir itself while trying to unscrew the caps. Found during the manufacturing process the threads were full of gunk. Started to clean the threads off with acetone but found it was removing the finish so I switched to WD-40 which worked fine. Once cleaned, the caps went on easily. The caps were also rusted on the inside which I had to also address. Good luck with yours
