This is small sized, fits in your palm, but it's the perfect size. I included a picture of it next to my stylus to help show its size. It's easy to use and just right for bruising petals, leaves, roots and herbs. It's adorable and functional. It's probably good at crushing pills, not sure, I didn't buy it for that.

I purchased it to grind up the medicine for my cat and it works great.

I used a stick of butter for size reference, although after first use, I noticed there is a small crack in the bottom that is collecting powder. It’s fairly easy to use, but I do wish the pestle was just a little bit longer. It’s very visually appealing, despite being plain white. Though I’m not sure how long it’s going to last given that it has a crack, which I’m hoping is just superficial.

I usually use an electric coffee and spice grinder for crushing flaxseeds, but mine broke, so I purchased this mortar and pestle hoping it would do the trick. It didn't. Not only did it not crush the seeds --- it also came with a tiny chip. It would be much better for smashing pepper, garlic and other soft spices, like it says in the description, but not for grinding anything like flaxseeds. I did try it with garlic cloves and it worked okay, but I would have liked for it to mash and smash a lot easier. I did not add oil to the garlic, so it probably would have worked a lot better with oil. I will be returning it because it did not work out for me, but depending on what you plan to crush or smash, it may work for you. Also, it is small and does not take up space and it is inexpensive, so there's that. Probably good for crushing pills, too!

Very good quality. The porcelain is smooth. Does a great job. Would recommend it. I use it to pulverize my puppy's prescribed medication and it leaves a great job.

It is a tiny mortar and pestle and I bought it to pulverize my Mameres meds for end of life care. She could no longer swallow pills or solids so I would crush them in this handy item and mix them in applesauce! She just passed a few days ago and I am going through her items. I had to write a review for this item as it was such a tiny, yet big, help in aiding her hospice days. I had also picked a "pill crusher" device not having experience in this type of care and never reached for it as this mortar and pestle so finely milled the meds I need not try anything else! It's affordable, durable,and quite handy! It fits in your hand easily so if you are needing big batches to mill - look elsewhere. Thank you for taking time to read my review!
