Could be better
It's a great collection of necessary survival gear and it is very light and compact. The down side is that it overpriced. You would probably be better off buying the stuff separately and piecing this kit together yourselves.

Fantastic kit
This is hands down the most well rounded kit you'll ever buy. It is a little pricey but that's because it's contents are top of the line. I carry this kit in my vehicle as well as one on me when ever I camp. You could probably find similar kits for lower prices out there but you get what you pay for, most cheap kit's contents break on the first day and aren't reliable. I gave this 5 stars because it's an overall great product.2-19-13UpdateI stand by my 5 star review. The LED light in the kit still works and is still very bright. The emergency blanket is more of an emergency shelter. I really like the bag it comes in however I wish it were more durable and I also wish it had belt loops. The contents of this kit can easily fit into a belt based EDC. There are several methods of fire starting in the kit but the striker is what I run to every time. I comes with a little pocket chainsaw and it's just a hair more durable than a similar one I got @ walmart (go figure). The one I got at walmart broke the first time I attempted to saw a branch. This one has yet to break. Of the 2 compasses included I really like the silva, The second one is one of those cheap little round ones you often find in other kits however it is still reading true. If you left me in the woods with just this I'd be able to make my way back home and so would you. I recommend this product.

Make one yourself
This product is has a lot of good things in a small package for one person to survive, BUT THIS IS WAY TO OVER PRICED!! $130 for this…. No way. Please people, save your money and take your time and build your own for yourself or a loved one. You can make this kit yourself or buy parts of this kit and peace it together for $40 at the most! Also buy a nice back pack that has a 2L water bladder for $40-50. Now you’ll have money left over for food, water, weapons, or more survival gear. You can find everything you need right here on amazon.com :-)

Useful
The kit was a little expensive for what you actually get but none the less it will come in handy for tight situations.

Item is Great but...
Okay so I needed a good E&E kit for work. and I decided to choose this one. When it arrived I thought no way! this thing is cheap beyond belief. As I am pulling all the items out and looking at each one separately I am thinking wow this is not as bad as I first thought Compass Excellent! The Fire steel works Extremely well LOL almost to the point of me burning down my office! But I still thought it a bit expensive so I decided to do some research and add the items to my cart separately. To my surprise all those items in the lil bag sold separately were in the neighborhood of $175 or so. SO this is a very good deal on a lot of essential gear for an E&E kit. Here comes the but... The carry bag is a little lack luster as far as I am concerned. Dont get me wrong the bag is great but I am OCD and I like all my gear separated, divided and a lot more organized. I would most definitely buy this again or reccomend the product to coworkers as the quality is there for sure though!A few suggestions add a match holder get a rite in the rain product for the pencil and pad.It is also smart to add some redundancy you never know when something will be rendered useless do to weather or what not.Add a Maxpedition FR-1 to this kit and a few extras and it will be ready for any survival situation Urban to wilderness.

Tactical and First Aid E&E Pouch
Excellent packing, tactical items, first aid items, a true E&E kit. Small but great touches -- red LED light for attaching outside the pouch so that you have illumination before opening the pouch and losing everything in the dark. I use this in my small airplane and it's perfect -- small and under a kilogram (2.2lbs) and just packed with stuff you wouldn't expect in a small pouch. It's currently unavailable which is a shame.

Room for improvement
This unit come well equipped and gives me a sence of sequrity. I would like, however, a lower price, but I allready bought it, didn't I? WELL...I have noticed that it seems to come apart at the seam that connects a clip-on plastic hook to the main bag. The bag itself is a bit on the small side, but it all fits in it, and it should be brought with you wherever you go.( As for waterproof claims, the zipper is water RESISTANT. The bag is water proof. But, most things are individually packaged, or grouped in a package, so some seepage is ok.The compass warns about reverse polarity after long time stationary with iron. I( see flint and steel, Sterile scalpel, and plenty of hardy metal....)NOTE- It is all under a pound, and is small enough to be carred in one hand easly. I estimate the entire kit to be 15 Long-15 or 16 centimeters wide. Girth at 7, but if you take and put things in abo out of it, it gets bigger. When it settles, its about 6 centimeter girth.

good lit
These guys put together a great little kit for the money. There are a couple things that everyone will want to add to make their kit more suitable for their needs, Could use a few more items in the first aid part. Overall, a great little kit to get your own personal survival kit started.
