Easy to work with
My daughter needed a Yiddish and English dictionary for school this one it is set up the words and the explanation and style is very clear to work with and read out of and being used for its right purpose as opposed to many other dictionaries that I have had in the past so overall there's a job for me and for a decent price...

Side-by-side Yiddish/Romanized listings nice feature
This is a fine addition to my collection of Yiddish dictionaries. I am a first generation American of east European Jews able to read Yiddish script. This book is an enjoyable nostalgic browse.

Incredibly useful for a beginning learner
The phrases are very useful. The dictionaries are easy to find words from both Yiddish and English and most importantly, the front matter contains extraordinarily concise, clear and extremely useful grammar charts. Highly recommended.

Great phrasebook - but not much of a dictionary
This is a great tool for basic conversation, but the dictionary section is rather small and contains only basic words. It is not at all comprehensive. If this were sold as a phrasebook alone, I would give it 4 stars (not five, because it also arrive bent and creased), but as a dictionary, it just doesn't fit the bill.

not enough vocabulary
I liked organization by topics to practice conversations for traveling, eating in a restaurant, getting medical care, etc.

Not for the Beginner
Extensive. I really liked this dictionary. While you will find beginner phrases...one really needs a working knowledge of German and Hebrew. Very thorough .

Yiddish at our finger tips.
The best thing about all of these Yiddish books their user-friendliness , but I thought they were going to be more comprehensive ; overall. I'm satisfied with the items.

How to understand Central Europe's Jewry.
This dictionary is an absolute goldmine of information about German Jewish culture and life. I have always been fascinated by words that have crept into the English Language - I am an English teacher, who taught advanced level Language and the semantics of language have always been a wonder: words from so many cultures!I am finding out more and more from this book.A must for students of Language and Culture.

A good book for the first steps in yiddish.
A very good dictionnary for beginners. When we begin to study another language, we don't need a big dictionnary, for in every life in any language we appoximatively need 200 words. Easy to handle, light weight, this book focuses on the most useful words and expressions of yiddish. A good book for the first steps in yiddish.
