So I have had mine the last 2yrs. I have used this over carpets and hard wood floors and am in love with how great this has performed. I have cats and dogs in my home with lots of shedding. This has done a great job at clearing the tumble fur and keep my fans and furniture clean of dust and general dirt/sand. The best part I really think is the removable handle and dusting tool. I can go from ceiling vents to under couchs and not need to change tools or get into a weird yoga position. Since buying my personal vacuum I have bought two more as gifts and a third will be bought this week. The two that were gifts have had no problems and working great (June and December 2015 purchases).* update*9DEC2018 - she has moved on. Hose wore a spot that I couldn't get to and I needed a replacement fast. She is being passed to a friemd who does refurbishment and moving to a bew family.

Pros: easy to assemble. Sleek design. Good accessories. Easy and good settings for rug height, and hardwood to carpet switching. Easy to maneuver.Cons: super stupid to clean and empty canister. Clogs easily and often (every other use) Simple to unclog, but super annoying to take apart every freaking time it clogs. Do not use if you have pets.Maybe only good for houses with central heating and air conditioning, no children, no dust and no pets.

I read many reviews that raved about this. I have never had a need to own a vacuum, so I guess I was expecting better performance. I find it works fine on carpet, but I have mostly hardwood floors. It doesn't do well on those. For the money it seems to be a good deal, but if I had it to do over I would spend twice as much and get something that met my expectations/needs. Plus, it was shipped to me in it's store box (no outer box). The store box is not strong enough to be used in this manner and was damaged upon arrival. The contents seemed okay so I did not return it, but I was not please by this.

Pros: The vacuum was relatively easy to assemble. Very easy to remove the bottom plate to clear the brush roller and also replace the belt. It's much quieter and lighter than my previous Dirt Devil Vision. It has great suction and does a good job of cleaning. This vacuum actually has two filters, one is a washable/reusable pre-motor filter and the other is the HEPA filter. The accessories are what you expect in a vacuum and the extender, which is actually the handle, is easy to utilize. The vac/dust bare floor tool is a nice bonus, especially with the washable and reusable micro-fiber dusting pad. The price was very affordable.Cons: The directions could have been a bit more descriptive with regard to the exhaust filter cover, which was difficult to install. The dirt cup is half the size of my previous Dirt Devil, so you will be emptying it more often, which could be a good thing. The dirt cup isn't as easy to empty as I thought it would be; when you press the button and the cup bottom opens, the dirt has to be manually pulled out because it binds up around the center pillar. There's much more dust in the air when you open the dirt cup, and it clings to the outside of the vacuum, so you will probably want to dust the vacuum after every use.Overall, I am happy with the performance of this vacuum. It will never make me happy to do housework LOL but it does make it a bit easier.

Needed replacement vac as our previous Dirt Devil recently had some issues. Tried to have it repaired but due age of unit (13 yrs old) several components that needed replacing are no longer available, so we went searching for a replacement. We decided on this unit from all of our research. Item had good price, shipped free and fast, arrived with no issues. Read instructions, assembled a few items, and were good to go. We have now had this unit six months and it has exceeded our expectations..the written descriptions for this vac don't do justice to this unit, it is fantastic. Lots of power, love the separate feature for vacuuming hard wood floors, height adjustment feature is nice, and the hose extension comes in handy. My only "negative" is that unit does not have a power cord reel feature, you have to manually roll up/extend the power cord. Would be nice to have. Other than that, we had yet to have any negative issues with our Dirt Devil as I have read from others on Amazon reviews.

I loved this vacuum at first! But after only just over a month of having it it has completely died. It worked really well on carpets picking up the hair we have from two cats. The mini attachment for the wand was fantastic for getting cat hair off our couch and bed. We read a lot of the reviews on here before purchasing and most of them complained that the length of the power cord was too short or that the attachment wouldn't pick up large pieces, or that it was dirty to clean. The cord is plenty long enough, allowing me to plug in in one room and vacuum well into another room. The attachment wouldn't pick up large items, but really you can just take that off and use the hose. And of course its going to be dirty to clean, its a vacuum, its designed to pick up dirt! The functionality of this vacuum was great. Only problem now is that ours won't suck at all. The motor goes and heats up, but no suction through the tubing or the floor head. It was also very difficult too check for blockages, requiring us to almost completely dismantle to check and wash all the tubing (to no avail, since our machine STILL doesn't suck). And I don't mean, the suction is just bad, I mean you could lay a tissue over the hose and it wouldn't move. Unfortunately for me, I think I threw the warranty out with the box it came in, and I have run out of time with amazon to return it. So I am stuck with finding a new vacuum that will last longer and one that sits there in the corner of my kitchen mocking me!
