I put it in toast mode but without bread to burn, dust, or any other material, and if it smelled something like it was a new product, after a few minutes and when the new smell disappeared, we put the first slices of bread, in the 1-2 setting the toast was light brown I changed the setting to 3-4. The result was perfect; I like a medium brown tone, and the toasted bread was delicious. A very nice toaster with a traditional look. I’ll be keeping this one! Although not as heavy as toasters in the past, it still has a sturdy enough feel. I don’t expect perfection with how it may toast bread (evenness) etc., so I’m sure it’ll be just fine for me - I’m okay with a little unevenness!

This toaster was very disappointing. My mom mentioned she needed a new one, so I suggested this model, assuming Cuisinart's reputation for quality and liking its reheat feature. I ended up buying the same one the following week, but it was a huge letdown. We both noticed similar issues: you need to press the lever multiple times to keep the toast down, which is absurd, and it toasts unevenly. The knob feels cheap and loose, making it feel unreliable while using it. I returned my unit, but my mom is stuck with hers since they were out of town for a memorial and missed the 30-day return window. When I visited her this week and made toast, I had to push the lever four times to keep the bread down, so frustrating. I expected much more from Cuisinart.

I needed a replacement for my toaster. I'm not a fan of cheap aluminum toasters, but it seems that's all you can get these days. It's clear right out of the box that this is not going to last overly long. The one it replaced lasted around 9 years. I'm not sure this one will, despite the rave reviews I saw online. Clearly, since it's new to me, the jury is still out on longevity, but.....here's my impressions so far. Fits my countertop space, always good news. Cord is acceptably long. The buttons are clearly marked and easily used. The dial is less so, but my old one was worse. The toasting process told me that not all the interior heat coils turn on to the interior of the machine. Whether that is due to a poor grade of coil or poor workmanship or just the temperature, I can't say. BUT...the toast seems to not be as "toasted" as my other machine on the same dial numbers. Since they are in minute increments, I would assume that 3 minutes of toasting in both machines would be similar, but they are not. This machine also doesn't seem to toast to the edges of the bread on 2.5-3 minutes like my old one did. I'll probably keep it, but don't expect much. It's a cheap toaster, folks....and that's what you'll get.

This has never worked correctly! It toasts everything so unevenly! It’s very difficult to understand what level you have it set to because the dial is so loose. Bought this 4 years ago and I’m so tired of dealing with the poor quality that I’m buying a new toaster. Never buying Cuisinart again!

I bought this because it's metal and all the other ones are plastic. I love it. It does a good job and looks great on my counter.

Me gustó mucho el modelo ese, pero el botón para el nivel de tostado del pan se mueve muy fácilmente y de repente me sale el pan negro porque se movió el botón.

We finally had to buy a new toaster. Our old Cuisinart toaster seemed a little more sturdy and material seemed better. Also had a counter on it so you would know how much time left to toast. Overall this toaster is pretty even toasting and works well. Not a top of line but still works great.
