Nice
This album was released many years ago in 2000 - I had no idea.I bought the album as it had the track (Love Thy Will be Done) used at the end of Meghan & Harry - A Royal Romance DVD movie. There are several other tracks on the album that are quite enjoyable.

I CAN'T NO LONGER RUN, LOVE THY WILL BE DONE
can any other track got any better with time as LOVE THY WILL BE DONE, gosh!, what a masterpiece, the best done track by Prince for another artist. MARTIKA'S style of POP-Gibson oriented of her early debut, differs from her sophomore cut with a more obscure approach to music. This Best collection it's based on both albums release by the latino-chanteuse, is sad is true that she didn't release nothin' after Kitchen's, but her sophomore album, wich included the first mentioned, was wrong directed in promotion, who thought of releasing MARTIKA'S KITCHEN as a single after the atmospheric LOVE THY WILL BE DONE, such a crime, I think it confuse fans and people, although MARTIKAS KITCHEN has a nice beat and great done vocals, and a very hidden message, it does not hold a stand as a single material, a more easy to understand a relate song could have save the fate of KITCHEN, talkin' a bout the debut tracks included here well, her fisrt single MORE THAN YOU KNOw it's a nice pop-dance track, very a-la-GIBSON way with Madonna's mid 80's voice a-like, I FEEL THE EARTH MOVE is more mature and far better than MORE, great done uptempo version of the classical track, TOY SOLDIERS, well #1, classic, intimate, deep lyrics, well done, WATER, I don't think this was single although I might be wrong...if it was a single it didn't hit the HOT 100, but it's a nice done latino vibe cut ballad, CROOS MY HEART uptempo and average, now for the MARTIKA'S KITCHEN SINGLES, LOVE THY WILL BE DONE, a masterpiece. MARTIKA'S KITCHEN hummmm?, this track selaed the fate of Martik'as second album, but it's nice dance funky track, if they wanted to release a fast uptempo track SPIRIT was more into the way, sad it should have been a better choice, COLOURED KISSES, I believe this was the third single, it's AC pop, fresh but forgettable, SAFE IN THE ARMS OF LOVE it's a very nice slo track, TEMPTATION fast driven, DON'T SAY U LOVE ME, anothe rpop one, ok, in time, many tracks of Martika's felt into oblivion as dated and not memorable, but some tracks of this BEST collection really will always stand the test of time LOVE THY WILL BE DONE, toy soldiers, AND I FEEL THE EARTH MOVE. ****FOUR STARS

Underrated Eighties Teen Queen
Though Martika managed a string of moderately successful singles in the late '80s/early '90s, she was very much Jessica Simpson/Mandy Moore to Britney's Debbie Gibson or Christina's Tiffany. Which is too bad, because when she was on, she was quite good, as this strong compilation can attest to. Though she remains primarily known for 'Toy Soldiers', she had several more dance-pop gems up her sleeve, chief among them the bouncy 'More Than You Know', an excellent cover of Carole King's 'I Feel The Earth Move', and the funky 'Martika's Kitchen'. Though a few tracks here suffer from age(particularly the dated drum machine beats of 'Don't Say U Love Me'), most of the material here suggests that the singer had the potential to outlive her initial fifteen minutes of fame, and for reasons unknown failed to do so.

sensual and groovy
I only bought this C.D. on a whim, and before this i had never heard any Martika other than her cover of 'I feel the Earth Move'. And now she is one of my favourite artists.'I feel the Earth move' is a really loud and appropriately OTT rock/club song. Very different from her usual relaxed style. Has fantastic dance appeal.'More Than You Know' a nice love song over funky disco.'Toy Soldiers' a very slow and dark song about addiction.'Water' a very intelligent love song with a nice Latino feel.'Martika's Kitchen' Now this one's a bit silly and the sex element is overdone, but it's a fun track with a wonderful beat!'Love..thy Will Be done' This is my favourite track on the album. A nice religious power-ballad with beautiful violin strings, and a sexual rhythm. Beautiful lyrics about love and need sung really soothingly. Sounds a bit like the Cocteau Twins.'Coloured Kisses' a nice song for making out to, or for waking up.'Cross My Heart' another OTT one, but a lot more sincere. Another nice disco sound.'Spirit' Pretty moderate religious dance song.'Temptation'- wonderful lyrics describing a love obsession.'Don't Say You love me'- I don't like this one, the music's too fast and out of key.'Safe In the Arms of love'- simmilar to 'Love...thy Will Be done' a nice slow and soothing love song. And after her greatest hits, the C.D. chronicles her numerous remixes.'More than you know'- a slightly longer version of the original, but little different.'I Feel The Earth Move' a pretty poor remix, it sounds weak compared to the original.'Toy Soldiers' Not so much a remix as a foreign version. Something about Martika singing in Japanese really turns me on!'Love..Thy Will Be done'- At first i avoided listening to this song because i thought it would spoil the original, but when I gave it a chance, I was pleasantly surprised, with a really sexy Hip-Hop beat, it is perfect for slow dancing. This version sounds more like Cibo Matto than the Cocteau Twins. All in all a wonderful collection of songs. Perfect for dancing, perfect for making love to, Perfect.

One good song
I bought this for Toy soldiers, but there are also some interesting numbers, with a definite influence of Prince about them. All in all a worthwhile dip into something different.
