Works great for some TVs in Hotel rooms
We travel a lot, and the entertainment can be spotty in hotel rooms. I have used this, with a long HDMI, to cast Netflix / Max /Prime to a TV with great success. Sometimes you don’t need this if you can screen mirror with your phone or iPad (depending on the age of the TV), and sometimes it will not work if you cannot figure out how to access the inputs on the TV, but those are problems with the TV, not this little adapter. Love it.

Added value to my laptop
This inexpensive adapter allows my 800$ MacBook Air to connect to flatscreen tvs with an HDMI port and play videos through my laptop. Previously all of my friends had been able to play videos on the tv through their laptops, but because I only have USBC outlets on my laptop I hadn’t thought that I could. I had been frustrated by this because it is an expensive laptop after all and you would expect it to be able to do something so basic. I had been contemplating what it would mean to sell this laptop on eBay and get another that had an hdmi port. But it occurred to me one day that they might be something as simple as an adapter, and after a quick search I ordered this. When it arrived I tried it out and now I am one of the cool kids that can play movies on the tv from my laptop.

Perfect
I was scrambling to find an adapter last minute. This item came next day and praying that it would work, it did. It is the perfect size and the cord is not too long. Not only did it fit perfectly, but the quality and speed was top-notch.

Undisclosed issues with desktops
Just got this. I have a desktop and laptop. I got this thinking I could use it for both devices but I was mistaken. It worked great on the Windows 11 laptop with its native USB C ports and even on the powered docking station with USB power.The Windows 10 desktop has USB 3 and 3.1 ports, but they are USB A, not USB C. And it does not support USB power. And while the blue power light on the HDMI adapter came on when plugged into the PC, it was not detected by Windows 10 at all. I checked adapters and everything I could think of to get it to detect and nothing worked. I tested two other USB C HDMI adapters (Dell & HP) and they detected and installed drivers without issue, but reported "Display Limited" and would not show a picture.So, two possible issues - It is not supported by Windows 10 (unlikely) or you need a USB power device, such as a powered hub or laptop that supports power over USB. Either way, if you are trying to use this for a desktop PC and don't have a supported power over USB port, avoid this product. It will not work!

"Works fi.. oh wait. Its not working now"
Worked fine for about 30 seconds and then disconnects. Tested two different hdmi cables that worked fine on other things with the same result. Is there some special HDMI for this or should any work fine? Based on the other low star comments I'm going to guess there was a handful of untested defects. Seems like drop shipping could be to blame.
