Paths Steps and Footbridges
A "fresh", well conceptualized and practical book that deals effectively and quite thoroughly with one of the two strategic components of any landscape --- the movement space. The other being landing or gathering space. The book is well illustrated and profusely augmented with simple clear diagrams. It benefits from a strong outline and simultaneous information on how to build paths, steps and footbridges It offers practical implementation tips. Stunning even inspiritational photographs complement the diagramatic graphics. A very good book for the "do it yourselfer" who could benefit from wisdom of those who have constructed well.

How to Build Paths,Steps and Footbridges
This book has lots of examples how to build paths which can be used for formal entrances to garden paths.I need this for building flag stone paths both at the front and the back. Also this book gives examples of how to build steps.I have picked some steps that I want to build on a hill by my house. The bridges are good bridges however they only have 3 examples of bridges which the author could have added a couple more bridges.I would recommend this book for someone looking to build paths and steps. The bridges are almost an after thought. They come up short on bridges.Have fun building your project.

Excellent Footbridge Information
I have a forest property with a creek and plan to build a bridge to make it more accessible.I have searched through several book sites including Google books and this is the only book I have found which gives small bridge building information to homeowners. The plans appear detailed and I am grateful for them, though I have not built yet so cannot confirm their accuracy and thoroughness. A great start. One remaining question is, weight limit is not indicated, and my concern is being able to travel over the bridge with an ATV pulling a wood chipper, perhaps 600 pounds. The information on paths and steps is also detailed.

A Landscape Architects View
Outstanding selection of photos defining numerous material selections and their designed use.Paramount to the process is Peter's description of the planning and design process. Easy to follow, thorough, and it leads the amature and professional through the inital idea(s) to a well defined project - bricks and mortar. The step by step direction tool(s), material(s) and know how should result in a successful project for friends and family to enjoy and rave about. Just look at the pictures. HUNGER!!!A wonderful book for young and old, amature and professional.JOHN W. CAMPBELLLandscape Architect
