Great
Great introduction book to Friedrich and a very affordable price. The paintings are very clear altgough some of them are small, but if all paintings were reproduced in a bigger size the book would have been much bigger... I don't regret buying it and have great pleasure reading the book & looking at the paintings.

Damaged, and replacement damaged.
Received a copy that was water damaged. Exchanged it and got another copy with the same water damage. I’ll keep this copy because it is a great book. Better than nothing. Buyer beware.

This is an excellent introduction into the sublime world of Friedrich
This is an excellent introduction into the sublime world of Friedrich. The book is thin, but it's full of color images along with a description and explanation of technique and symbolism, as well as a fair amount of history. It's a well written and researched book. The folks at Taschen do a great job with these books making art more accessible and at reasonable prices. There are a few books on Friedrich and most of them are out of my price range. This book proved to be a real value.

Five Stars
Better written than Hofmann. Monk by the Sea gets a two page spread.

Great cheap way to view some amazing paintings
A really cost effective way of viewing an incredible body of work in print. Print quality is pretty decent and the price is incredibly low for what you're getting.
