Hard to use: Beginner
After seeing social media posts I was convinced a stone would be my solution to dull blades and I was wrong. When you get into watching YouTube videos there is a learning curve, and I wasn't too successful. It was working and I could see metal, and it did improve the blade I was sharpening. Just not nearly enough to call it sharp though. Far from slicing paper or a tomatoI also let the bamboo holder stay warm and it got moldy.

Perfect value stone for a Newbie.
I bought this stone to as a stater stone to learn how to sharpen on. The quality is much better than expected. Within minutes I was able to revive dull Chef knife.and was able to s'sharpen a cheap pocken knife to shaving sharpness.. The base holds the stone well. It does not move on my table. The 1000 grit side takes the edge down and the 6000 git side polishes and smotothes the edge. The guide helps maintain the blade angle.. The pacjaginng was great as well. Comes in a nice box with fitted foam to protectect the stone.. Item had shipped in a bublle wrap bacg from Amazon, but but arrived in tact with not damage..The learniing curve is quick. I would suggest watching a couple of You Tube videos. I wBut the quality for the price exceeded my expectations.

Good product, if you are new watch some videos before getting started
You need to use the product correctly and requires some work to get the end result, but its worth it especially if you have some knives that you love and dont want to do away with. While the stone includes a useful angle guide that can be attached to a blade and the guide gives clear steps on prepping the stone and how to hold the blade when sharpening, it does not illustrate the manner in which the blade needs to be moved across the stone. I had to go to Youtube to get some tips on the exact method. I have historically been very bad at putting an edge on a blade due to ignorance primarily. But with the help of the video and a good stone, I did an effective job. The base does a great job of holding the stone in place and is attractive in the kitchen.

Mirror finish amd razor edge from rust!
Should have bought a whetstone a long time ago. I hate sharpening knives. For the kitchen I had an electric sharpner. For my tools in the garge I would honestly just use sand paper or scrap my chizels against the concrete. But I bought a nice set of quality kitchen kives so it was finally time to get a whetstone. Man I shoukd have gotten one a while ago. I was able to get a mirror finish on my chizels and get knives back to slicing paper like butter.Pros: Works. Really gets a nice edge. Had my knives and chizels shaving my arms. The non stick surface on the bottom seemed to keep it in place on the granit counter top.Cons: For my crappy knives it didnt seem to work as much. Im sure it was just the metal of the blade though. For my Wustohf knives it sharpened them really nice.

Sharpen your kitchen tools
I wanted a sharpening stone for my kitchen knives for quite sometime but was procrastinating. Finally, last week I got this product. It came in a nice little pack with couple of accessories, like the bamboo non-slippery base and a small clip like thing to hold the knife. I followed instructions and sharpened couple of my knives. Initially didn't apply any pressure and just rubbed on the stone only for a few times so it didn't work much. Next time I did it again and kept doing it for some time and applied a little bit of pressure this time. The results were great. Earlier it wasn't able to cut even tomatoes properly with my knife but after sharpening I could feel the knife was working well. Just one thing, after sharpening see some black lines. Kinda ruining the asthetic looks of the stone. Nevertheless, the stone is good and works as expected.

Great value for the 25$
The media could not be loaded. I used the whetstone a few days after it arrived, i sharpened all of my knives. It took forever watching Youtube Videos and practicing the 15 degrees back and forth. It was worth it.My dullest knife can now cut mango without me even holding the mango. My knives are so sharp that i accidentally touched it and now i wrapped my finger w bandaid and Neosporin. The only thing I don’t love about the whetstone is the base is not gripping the granite surface when it got wet. Tip: I added a paper towel under a towel and then place the base on top. It didn’t move as much after. However, for 25 bucks, I can’t complain.

AMAZING! So easy to use!
I don’t know why I haven’t bought Whetstone before. I will be honest, I never realized I had dull knives. I would just say “oh they are fine or it works okay”. Someone told me thag I should get a sharpening tool, so I decided to try this stone out and see if it really would make a difference to my knives. I have never sharpened knives and I am not very good at it, but this stone make it so easy. I should have bought this a long time ago. The packaging was so nice and neat, the wood is very stable, the stone sharpens the knives so much, and the price is the best part for such an amazing product. I would definitely recommend this product!!

Great product at a good price
First time I ever used a whetstone and it was pretty easy to use. I soaked the stone in water, watched a quick youtube video and went at it. I didn't use the knife guide at all since it was bulky and made it harder to feel what angle i was sharpening at. Go slowly and make sure the stone is kept wet. Since my knives were quite dull I had to sharpen a few cycles (10-12 passes each side). I cut a tomato afterwards and was really happy with how sharp they got with my novice sharpening skills. Great product and good price!
