Droll Yankees Wing Nut Threaded Attachment for Hanging Bird Feeders

These are a much better design that the older model of 'hooked' wing nut from Droll Yankees. Two design improvements are:(1) The hook portion is designed as a handy turning tool for screwing the wing nut into the bottom of the feeder and/or seed tray.(2) Because this design is shorter than the previous design and the little hook is smaller and appears (at a glance) less hefty than the previous design, no one should be fooled to think it will hold more weight than it was designed to hold.I much prefer these plastic wing nuts over the standard metal ones I once had on my tube feeders, mainly because of (1) above -- they are so much easier to turn, requiring much less effort when detaching seed trays from feeders for cleaning purposes. Yes, I'm sure they will not last as long as those old metal wing nuts, but I've used them for over a year without any problems. At least they won't rust, and if I do wind up having to replace any, they are inexpensive. I bought extras, just in case.

This plug/hook works with the Droll Yankee bird feeders as advertised. I used it on the Droll Yankees Classic Sunflower or Mixed Seed Bird Feeder, Ring Pull Advantage, 16 Inches, 6 Ports feeder because the bottom baffle on the feeder leaks seed if the hole is not plugged.It would be nice if Droll Yankee offered just a plug nut for the feeder itself. Using the wing nut plug/hook prevents the feeder sitting on flat surfaces, making refills more difficult.Also, after my Amazon purchase, I noticed the same item available for $3.49 on the Droll Yankee website so you may want to check and compare prices.

I like that it’s easy to tighten with finger tips. Works well, costs too much for so little.

This Wing Nut works very good on the Droll Yankee attachment trays.

I kept losing the black nut that one of the trays came with so had to purchase this one. Glad I did, it is definitely far superior and has stayed tight.

love the way it hooks so nothing falls off. Fit perfectly onto the bottom of my tube feeder allowing me to hang a humming bird feeder.
