Total Gym 1900

Like many folks, I've been seeing the many versions of this being offered on those Chuck Norris infomercials for decades. The device looks easy to use. But for some reason, I've always thought of the Total Gym as being gimmicky, so I've tended (without ever having tried one) to dismiss them as ineffective.Fully stretched out, this thing is kind of long. For the first two weeks or so that I had it, I was folding it up after each use so I could tuck it into the corner to free up space. I was fine with this, but after a while I decided that for convenience, I'd leave it fully stretched out. I cleared a wall in the bedroom, and when not in use, I simply push it flat against the wall. This way, it's always ready for a workout, but unobtrusive when not in use.Setup is fast and easy. Once you unbox it, you can get a workout going within 5 minutes. I inspected all the welds, and the construction seems to be of good quality. I therefore have no reason to worry that pieces will easily break or bend.After having used the machine consistently for three months, I can definitely say that my upper body and core strength have improved tremendously. The results have been remarkable. I see definition coming in on my arms, shoulders, chest and abs. My torso looks great as my body composition has become leaner. I look forward to using it to the maximum resistance. While initially concerned that I would quickly exhaust the resistance capacity of this machine it appears I'll be able to get some great, challenging workouts on this unit over a good period of time,.While this model does not allow you to add weights to increase the resistance, you can purchase a weighted vest, and increase your resistance that way.The price is great. The equipment is well constructed. And if you use it, you'll get results. Highly recommended.

Love it! With a modicum of common sense the machine is easy to set up out of the box and within half an hour you can be sitting on it exercising. At the end of the day you get what you pay for, so this review is written with that in mind. Had we paid $1500 the level of expectation would have been somewhat different. Ok, any machine with nylon rollers instead of precision bearings and rubber rollers is going to make a bit of noise, but having said that, operation is smooth and after a little use the noise isn't really bothersome. Adjustment is easy and quick, as is the adaptation by attaching the various accessories. The DVDs supplied are very good and make you feel part of something, rather than simply having the feeling of exercising at home. This makes it easier to keep going back to the machine, rather than simply viewing it as another piece of the furniture, which has been the case with other exercise devices we've "invested" in. Does it deliver? So far, the answer is, "yes", but one has to go at it wholeheartedly. It's no good expecting everything to be done for you, but the DVDs reinforce this, helping you to have realistic expectations of yourself. Results aren't instant, but after 4 weeks we're noticing a difference. The diet plan that comes with it is also relatively easy and pain free to follow, concentrating on healthy eating and portion control. Nothing new there, but diet is also reinforced in the DVDs, so the message keeps chipping away at you, but not in a full on, in your face way, as with other products. If the durability of the Total Gym proves to be up to expectations, I'd say that in terms of value for money, this really is a great investment! Absolutely no regrets!!!

I had an older model Total Gym for 12 years which was destroyed when our house burned down. Once we got settled in to our new home one of my first purchases was this Total Gym. Total Gyms work. There are a variety of exercises so you do not get bored and the 12 different levels of resistance, which are easily changed from one to another, insures that exercises are not too easy nor too hard. This is a good piece of equipment to get into and stay in shape.

This is a very good product but the various versions have different weight limits and measure differently so make sure you get the version that will work for you. You can get a great workout on this but I wouldn't rely on it alone for working out or getting in shape. Also, it is not as convenient to fold up and store as they make it look on the infomercial, unless maybe you get the basic version without any of the add-ons.Also, be aware of pinch points so if you have small children you will want to be sure they don't play on this.Regardless of the above considerations I find it an excellent way to work out and it is fun to use as well, not to mention it is a solid quality product, which is why I give it such a high rating. If you leave it set up as I do you can get a quick workout in, or even just a bunch of reps of this or that, between chores or whatever else you have going on. Some days you just don't have time to make it to the gym and that is where the Total Gym totally meets your expectations.

I just received the Total Gym 1900 a few days ago but I am very happy with it so far. You can definitely get a good workout on it. I was deciding between the 1400 and the 1900 as the 1400 is cheaper but the 1900 supports more user weight and it is very sturdy. The 1900 also comes with many more attachments than the 1400.Update August 16, 2019. I'm still extremely pleased with this Total Gym. I really enjoy the fact that I can get a good workout on it in a short period of time and the workouts are actually fun. The Total Gym will tear down and fold up quickly and easily, I put mine away in a small closet whenever I have guests. I recommend this Total Gym 100% - I wish that I had bought one years ago!
