On stumps with greenery, this killed the above ground green part very quickly. Nothing has grown back. I don't know how to tell definitively if the stump is dead, but I have no reason to believe they are growing back after a month. I used this with the addition of the product that helps the product stick to the plant, and that worked very well.

This stuff does seem to work very well to kill buckthorn. I haven't seen any new stems sprouting from stumps I've treated. I've treated several ranging from under an inch up to about 3 inches diameter. HOWEVER I have one gripe about this product that I find unacceptable. The cap is not water tight! I think it is reasonable to expect that a hazardous chemical such as this would have a cap that does not leak. I'm assuming that it is just a defect with this particular bottle and maybe my review will get the attention of someone who can do a quality control check and make sure the issue isn't widespread. Buck Thorn is notoriously difficult to kill off. You need to paint the stump within 30-40 minutes of cutting, or the stump seals itself off. I have a 100% success rate with this. 7 years and counting. Use it properly and it never grows back.

Didn’t always get the job done on the first try. Had to go back and repeat the process more than once on about half of the small 3-6 inch stumps I had. Worked much better one smaller volunteer trees is 2 inches or less in diameter.
