Hayward W3DE3620 ProGrid Diatomaceous Earth DE Pool Filter for In-Ground Pools, 36 Sq. Ft.

I originally purchased a filter from another company in order to save money. When the filter arrived part of the inside of filter was cracked. I returned it and purchased the above filter in photo which is a Hayward Model W3DE3620. The filter was a few hundred dollars more but it arrived perfect. The installation was very easy because I was replacing my old Hayward filter. Everything lined up perfectly. I would highly recommend staying with Hayward products.

Filter came quickly and put in my driveway. Note: pool store estimated 4 months before they could get one. It took ten minutes to get it out of the box and screw on the new shut off/on connector purchased with it. Plumber put in for me in 30 minutes after I took out the old one. I did have all the connectors and pvc on hand already. Works great pool is super clear, old one was over 30 years old and going. Was worth every penny.

I'm coming from a Sand filter boy do I miss the easy maintenance of a sand filter.So far I have not noticed the pool water being more clear looking than my previous sand filter.I knew what I was getting into before I purchased but the maintenance too time consuming. Removing the clamps, removing the rack with all the fins, rinsing them out with water, putting grids back in place, putting grids back in filter, making sure Pring is lubricated, making sure clamp is on correctly and then tightening clamp just right. Too much or too little will result on a leak.Does the filter work. Yes. Does the water look cleaer than a sand filter. No.If you're debating on getting a sand filter or DE filter. Get a sand filter. Soooooo much easier to maintain. The difference in water filtration is too miniscule to see with the naked eye.

Examined inside of the DE filter before I installed it. Quality product. Easy replacement for old worn filter of the same brand. Lubed the O-rings on multi-port with specified grease and tighten the connectors with an oil filter wrench. Started pump per instructions with DE Filter air valve open. Closed air valve after water came out. Added 5lbs of DE Filter material through the skimmer. Added pool chemicals. Ran the pump for 24hrs. Water is crystal clear.

Ordered the Hayward W3DE3620 Filter. The manual states that backwash valve SPO715XR50 is suppose to fit this filter. Watched some Youtube videos as well of people installing this combination of Filter and Valve.The Filter arrived with two different bulk head fittings. The top fitting is the correct fitting per the filter diagram part number DEX2420F. The bottom fitting however, is wrong and the backwash valve does not fit this fitting. It looks like the fitting is part number C3035F.Long story short, didn't want to pack up the heavy filter and return it so ordered the correct fitting (an additional $30).Replacing the fitting isn't easy as you have to open up and dismantle the filter because the fitting screws into an internal piece, not the exterior shell.Haven't turned used the filter yet, so maybe I will write another review once it is up and running but not a good start Hayward.

Needed to replace my 30 year old filterThis is same manufacturer and a different color but just need to unscrew 2 plastic nuts and set the new in place and tighten those nuts and it was replaced and filtering the pool in about 15 minutes
