Replace your Centurylink modem
This has saved me so much grief! I have Centurylink (no other options) and in 3 months, the modems they provided had to be replaced twice- not to mention the monthly rental fee. This was an easy install. It came when the tech was here to - replace my modem again and then Amazon delivered and I said - wait just a minute. It had to be reset, still had previous owner password, but that was fairly easy to do. It's even 5g capable (if that ever happens here). The tech was surprised that I got it off Amazon for the price I did- said it's a much higher quality than the ones they provide. It's been a few months now and No problems with my service and no monthly rental fees. Well worth the money!

Good Replacement
I bought this to replace my parents old ActionTec router that crapped out after a few years of use. Luckily, this router came quickly through Amazon, and I was able to set it up with no problem. But like someone else had mentioned, CenturyLink is constantly trying to sell my parents a “higher grade” plan and “better” modem. However, in the terms and conditions when setting up the modem, if anything happens to the modem, i.e. your house gets struck by lightning and the modem suffers surge damage, they are not reliable. (And also if an “act of God” were to take out the DSL line, CenturyLink is not at fault.) Anyway, buying a used modem is cheaper in the long run, especially when the “high grade” plan that parents’ have only reaches at max speeds (super rare) at 1Mb/s. (Average is 500Kb/s)

CRAP product
I ordered 2 - ZyXEL C2100Z (CenturyLink) VDSL2 Wireless Modem Routers (Renewed), to replace an old ZyXEL C2100Z (CenturyLink) VDSL2 Wireless Modem Router, I had originally purchased through Century Link, and a 2nd option to use in my work space. This product basically sucks. "Renewing" it is useless, in my experience. So I received these 2 useless modems, and they basically overheat, and stop functioning. I have my own life trauma, and wished to access internet, instead of not, so I ignored the problems, and used one with blue plastic ice blocks, in zip lock bags, with the modem tipped on its side, until the ice melted. I would prefer to own my modem, then rent it. Yet I do not see a viable option. Such is the price of keeping Century Link, as my internet service provider. I did get some satisfaction today, as I called Amazon back, and went through a long process, and frankly got very mad at the limitations of having invested nearly $300, in 2 faulty, dysfunctional pieces of cheap plastic crap. I was offered a partial refund. I thought they would replace the non-functional modems with ones that potentially function. Yet no. I finally requested a manager, and she claims she is refunding my credit card, for the full amount, minus the $63. I spent on the Asurion Protection plan, back when I thought I could get some functional use out of the ordered modems, over the coming 4 years. Instead I got 4 highly troublesome, dysfunctional months of 2 "renewed" pieces of crap modems, that were mostly a nightmare, and added trauma to my already traumatized state. I need functional modems for my business, and am a bit on the clueless side, as to where to even get these, after my horror show purchase experience. The Amazon service representative was going to walk me through return options for the products. The Manager refunded me fully, at least for the products, and not the warranty. May still contact ASURION, and request refund for 3 of the 4 years of warranty. The manager is refunding me nearly fully, and told me I can keep the products, anyway. That's cool. I appreciate this. Still, I remain in the same pickle, uncertain how to purchase 2 actual functional modems, from a company that will actually stand behind what they sell and ship me. So, would I recommend this product? Hell NO! Good luck finding a functional product to support Century Link Internet Service. Not a fun challenge at all! Peace out!

Awesome customer service, worth the purchase!
I actually ordered 2 of these. The first had issues, but the company was so awesome at responding I bought a second before I even returned the first. Great customer service. Very happy!

Not worthy of Amazon renewed designation
I have bought a number of Amazon refurbished products and have been pleased. Not so much with this one. Cosmetically scratched and missing half the rubber feet on the bottom. Had trouble getting it online with CenturyLink tech support who said it still contained the previous owner’s data. When finally online, the functionality is good. I’m tempted to return it but don’t know how to get my data out of it and don’t trust the third party seller would given it came to me with someone else’s data.

Identical to my previous one
since it was identical to my previous modem I figured it would work a little a faster , I had assumed that my old modem was old and wasn't working as fast as it was at the begining. thats why replaced it. unfortuntatly it wasnt the case . buying this modem was a waste on my part. its just my internet company trying to upsell me to a higher priced plan. the modem works as its intended . its just my internet company screwing with me
