On the 3rd Use Started Smoking
I bought this 6 months ago, last November, so I would be ready when spring hit. I got 2 good uses out of it on my smallish yard. On the third use, while edging, I noticed a burning smell. Put the trimmer down the battery and motor are were HOT and smoke was coming out. Pulled the battery and haven't touched it since. Having researched more it seems this is a common issue for this model many other users reporting the same. Very disappointed as I liked the unit but having an electrical fire in your hands off light yard work is reason enough to steer clear.

I've bought two and each of them failed.
I've purchased two of these units. The first unit, purchased summer 2020, burned up and died after three uses. I figured, maybe it was defective. I asked for and received a refund. Ordered another, again thinking it was a defective unit. I used the second one a few times last fall with no issues. I used it for the first time on April 8. Guess what, it burned up. I have several 40 volt ryobi tools - blower, 24" hedge trimmer (an awesome tool) and chainsaw. All have worked flawlessly. This motor head, is unreliable. I reached out to the seller for a refund. I will update my review once I hear back.

Perfect replacement for the motorized powerhead!
I replaced the motorized version of the powerhead with this battery powered one and, man, what a difference. The gas powered motor would almost never start, so I dreaded going out to edge the lawn, since it meant an extra hour trying to start the motor. Now, I just grab and go. It works with all the attachments I have. I bought the 4Ah battery and charger separately, and that is sufficient power to finish edging, or weed whacking, hedge cutting or rotatilling that I need to do. I recommend this powerhead wholeheartedly.

No More Gasoline
When you get set up with the Ryobi quick change set of products, you wanna start with this power take off.Usually when buying a battery powered lawn tool you'll get this with a weed eater or something in the package to start with.I bought this one for the back yard . Why should I walk all they way to the back to grab my Ryobi?I wanted one for the garage too, kind of like an extension phone.Seriously, though folks, I've bought my last 2 cycle anything. Every spring it's a big hassle cause nothing'll start. I've bought more weed eaters than most people have hot lunches. That and lawn mowers. Everything that I have from Ryobi on this platform was worth twice the money.

Light weight and well balanced
Light weight and both my 2.6 ah and the 4.0 ah batteries work with it. After unpacking I tried 1 of my attachments and it would just barely penetrate the barrel. I looked inside the barrel and there was this nub that was stopping it from fully engaging. I took a narrow blade screwdriver and tapped the nub off and then all my attachments would fully engage. Not sure what the reason the nub was there...maybe some leftover manufacturing material. All my attachments works with it and seems balanced with all of them.
