I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of these panels.I live in a rural area and ordered them based on the relatively inexpensive price and timeline for receiving them, as I have a deadline to meet and no time to travel afar to a physical store. I expected them to do the job but didn’t know whether to be confident in the quality.I ordered two two-packs (so four panels total) which were all quite smooth - on every side, not just the front panel surface. No splinters, no rough spots, and not even any drippy glue residue on the back cradling. I expected to have to sand them but don’t feel the need. Four is a small sample size, but I like that each is uniform and they will not need effort on my end put into finishing them before use (beyond priming, of course).They also feel sufficiently sturdy in build for future hanging without worry, not at all flimsy.

They claim that these are 8x8x1.5” more like 8x8x.75. Nails are sticking from frame.

While these pieces are sturdy, I was disappointed with other quality issues. Two of the four boards had what looked like the glue sloppily overflowing on the sides. I was originally hoping to stain the boards, but ended up sanding them down and painting them, which did cover up the glue globs. One of the boards without the glue issue had a large gash starting on one side, fading, then reappearing on the other. Almost like it was wrapped too tight with a strong wire, but this board was hidden in the middle of the package. Not quite what I was hoping for.

These had a lot of excess glue inside. Pretty big drips. The size is good and the wood is solid without any give.I will give these one more try. If the glue is still bad I will buy a different brand.

NOT Square! These blocks are supposed to be 6” square. A couple of the 4 pack are close, a couple off by 1/4”. Not good! Really wish I realized the sizes were inconsistent before I got so far into my project. They ‘look’ nice and the edges are clean, but if you need them to be square, run away and spend more money.

The panels are a good value, unless your work requires a perfect surface. I am using mine for painting gouache, so I laid on 2 coats of gesso and a tinting coat of vermillion, which fill most imperfections, and the gouache goes on pretty thick.I want to add that I bought a set of 10x10s which were in slightly better conidtion, although there were still some nicks on the sides. I compared them to a more expensive competitor and this brand uses complete wood on the sides, while the other brand used fingerboard. If you are leaving the sides natural like I am (I mask them with blue masking tape before I put on the first coat of gesso) the these are a much better option.

I was so disappointed when I unwrapped these boards. I have used them in the past but in this order of 4 boards, 3 were damaged. I was able to make repairs on 2 of the boards with wood putty , but the 3rd board the veneer was popping up. I tried to repair it but it wasn’t very successful.Although it says US Art supply they are made in China.

I got these boards to do a photo transfer. It came out great and they are super sturdy. I like that the thickness makes it able to stand on it's own if you don't want to hang it. The price was way cheaper per board than Michaels was even with a 40% off coupon but you have to get 4 boards.

These were exactly as described. Excellent art boards, smooth edges no ragging, good quality. Would buy again.
