Do not sniff this directly from the jar. Don’t let anyone else do it either.
I’m sure I’m not the only one who likes to get a whiff of aroma after opening spices or seasonings. I opened it up and sniffed and the smell was completely atrocious. Some kind of toxic chemical odor.Because are so many 5 star reviews I persevered. I didn’t have a plan B since it’s not returnable.I’ve used it three or four times, each time using light heat on a large frying pan.It’s actually pertinent that I am six feet tall because my face is several inches father from the pan than someone of average or shorter height.My first use was on a small frozen pizza. I sprinkled the truffle powder from approximately 2 inches above the pan. As a fine powder it disbursed somewhat, but not too much. From 15 inches away the aroma was much different. Still slightly unpleasant but ok. The combination of heat and settling altered the aroma further. It transformed into a rich and inviting scent.Sprinkling was visibly uneven but the flavor distribution was surprisingly consistent.Rich and heady flavor. Earthy and woody.A kind of flavor that clings to every surface of the mouth and takes up an extended residence.Subsequent uses have been similar. I’ll admit that I have sniffed it before use each time, disbelieving that it could smell so bad.Definitely use this sparingly. The top isn’t designed like most spice shakers so even distribution will take a little practice.It may seem pricey but it’s going to last a long time.Finally, keep in mind that dried or powdered fungi don’t taste identical to fresh just as dried spices don’t taste identical to fresh. I don’t know what the blend is but it works.

The best truffle value anywhere!
I love truffles. This seems like a product too inexpensive to be worthy, but it is not. It is fantastic. I have had one bottle on my shelf for more than a year, and the flavor and smell are still as good as the day I got it. No, I am not paid to say this, and I have no affiliation with this company, other than I am a happy consumer of their products.This is one product I do not want to see ever go away. It is perfect. I put some on my eggs in the morning. I add this flourish to many things: lots of seafood dishes, pasta dishes, and even sandwiches (butter the bread and dust it with this instead of using mayo or mustard or anything else).Try this: speck ham, smoked mozzarella, and buttered ciabatta bread with a good dose of this on the buttered bread - then toast in a pan for 3 minutes a side while adding a weight on top to make it like a panini. If you do t like this, something’s wrong with you (or you’re vegetarian, which is fine).If you want a strong truffle vibe to whatever you are cooking, this can’t be beat, especially for the price!

Delicious! I'm never without it!
Truffle is not just for pasta! I also love it on macaroni and cheese along with a dash of lemon pepper. Trust me! I still remember the first time I had truffle and I was blown away. Now I love to treat myself whenever I make pasta at home. I used to use truffle salt, but that was too much added salt. Truffle zest is better. More intense flavor without the added salt. You can't really cook with it, the heat kills the flavor. But as a condiment after you plate your meal, and it's amazing! I double up too, truffle oil and truffle zest. Can't have too much in my book! Treat yourself! Enjoy!
