Remote Control Impulse Control

Pretty Fun
The idea behind this game is pretty fun, however it is lacking in one main draw - if played by the rules, it is BORING. That's not great news for a game designed for kids to help develop the part of their brain responsible for impulse control. I would still suggest buying the game, but we've kept the question cards and threw the rest away. We just read the cards and take turns answering the three options for stop (redirect behavior, what could you do instead that might have a more positive outcome?), rewind (remember what happened last time you lost control of that impulse), or fast forward (what might happen if you don't control that particular impulse).

I can see why many are calling this game boring, however we play in in short spurts at the dinner table. It gives interactive conversation. The children learn more about the parent's childhood when they answer the rewind questions and can help them learn from parent's mistakes . And I can see over time that this will help children stop and think before making choices. Cards could also be taken on long car rides to provide discussion. with so little out there to help with impulse control this is definitely a good place to start.

Game
Game has excellent scenario cards but will have to reword some. However, you might also want to discard the actual game and replace tokens with other rewards like positive statement reinforcements or even thumbs up. The game itself is a little boring but the cards are an excellent resource

The game board is boring.
My students said that this game was boring, I used the questions while playing a different game and for role playing.

Helping school counseling tool
I use this and small groups in my school. Girls and boys elementary and middle school aged have enjoyed it. It is simple enough for the kids to understand the directions right away but challenging enough for them to want to play over and over.

great tool
This game is a helpful adjunct to therapy in teaching kiddos to connect behavior and consequences. Easy rules for young children, but they may need some prompting.
