Perfect Christmas Present
This was a Christmas Present to me. Today I opened, unpacked, and used it for the first time. It worked perfectly, was a pleasure to use, and easy to clean. Yesterday I made a 3.8 pound top round beef roast, with potatoes, carrots and onions, in my 8 cup Insignia pressure cooker. I wrapped the left over roast in aluminum foil and put it in the refrigerator. Today, I used the meat slicer to slice the roast beef in the setting 1, for 1/8 inch slices. it worked perfect. It was so easy to clean. Just balance the front of the meat slicer on the middle of the double sink, and use the spray washer hose to spray it clean. then dry it off with paper towels. I also removed the blade and washed it and dried it separately. This way no water gets near the electrical parts or the cord. Wish to thank the Bella manufacturer for this well made product.

GOOD ENOUGH FOR MY PURPOSES
GOOD ENOUGH FOR MY PURPOSES, BUT------Let me start by saying this is my first meat slicer, an item I've long contemplated but never thought necessary. That was until I received a Best Buy gift card, and caught this Bella Meat Slicer as a Deal of the Day. Couldn't resist. The GOOD: In my case it was only a few dollars, but I wouldn't have paid full price for it. It works well, having used it now 7 or 8 times - rump roast, pork loin, ham, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, squash, and zucchini. It's also very safe, the guide keeps your hand and fingers from being exposed to the rotating blade. The BAD: 1) It's difficult to clean, literally taking longer than the slicing. With a roast or loin you end up with quite a mess - juices and food particulates all over the unit, in gaps and between cracks, a proper cleaning requires not only time but a sponge, small brush, and toothpick for good measure. A royal pain. The BAD: 2) Whatever you slice lands on the unit behind the blade, there's no receptacle to capture it. That seems ridiculous to me, and I've devised a way of stacking the slicer atop a cutting board atop a baking pan to keep foods from just freefalling onto the counter. I have to imagine that a higher-end slicer accounts for the problem somehow, but this one certainly does not.All-in-all I'm satisfied for two reasons, one being that I acquired it on the cheap, the other being that it does the job I need it to do. If I had to use it regularly, as opposed to once every couple weeks, I'm sure I'd grow tired of the laborious task of cleaning it. I think 3 stars is about right, 2½ might be more accurate.

Slices okay enough, difficult to clean afterward.
I actually came here to see if I was the only one who found this. Like others, I bought it at BB for a considerable discount. It slices, but then the counter and the machine are covered in meat chips. I sliced a rib roast into 1/8” slices in about 2 minutes, then spent 20 minutes cleaning everything up. Also, the small blade means that you are limited in what size roast, ham, or cold cut you can slice. Someone mentioned slicing brisket, but that’s going to be a mighty small pricked. Or you can cut it in half along the grain first. At a discount price, sure. It’s a bit bulky to store, make sure you have pantry space for something about the size of a microwave but that you can’t stack things on. Otherwise, pass.

Far exceeded expectations!!!
I picked this up at a big box store during a black Friday sale for $30. I immediately put it to use slicing a bull elk into 1/4" slices to make jerky in my dehydrator. I was very skeptical about buying a slicer for this price, as I was prepared to pay more for a better one at a different store during black Friday. I bought it pretty much planning on returning it if it failed to perform. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The elk was semi-thawed when I cut it, and this machine chewed through it like butter. It made the process of getting even slices of meat absolutely effortless. It cut an entire elk without overheating or smoking or anything. The item does not seem to be the highest quality, but should hold up fine if it is not abused. I have never used any other slicers, so I have nothing to compare it to, but this thing far exceeded my expectations. Time will tell how this holds up, and if it fails on me, I will update this review, but having fed it one elk, it performed flawlessly, and I would call it a five star steal for $30!!!!

Easy to use, fast for slicing & cleaning, and excellent uniform slices
I love this slicer. I purchased it because I do a lot of gourmet cooking and I am one of the go-to guys for community bbqs in our city. A brisket usually takes me 35-45 minutes to cut with an electric knife to get uniform slices. Uniformity is important for presentation. I cut a 15lb brisket and 8lb ham in less than ten minutes. The unit is sealed well so clean up was fast and easy. most important is that the blade had a fast lock and release design and there were no juices behind the blade when I cleaned it. I find the machine to be very safe compared to the heavy slicer I used to use when I worked in a butcher shop.

Solid, heavy duty, and surprisingly flawed
Like some of the other reviewers here, I bought this item on sale, and would not have purchased a serious meat slicer had it not been so cheap. This meat slicer is undeniably solidly built, and - unlike a flimsy plastic mandolin slicer I bought prior - has the capacity to get the job done. It is very stable, simple to operate, and works particularly well with deli meats and with semi-frozen slabs.I was surprised that it doesn't have a receptacle to catch the slices, but this is not a big deal for me. A somewhat bigger deal is the difficulty cleaning it, especially since there is an open crevice in the body right behind the business end of the blade. An even bigger deal - after about 40-60 seconds my slicer emits a burnt plastic smell, as if the motor is overheating, although so far I haven't experienced a motor failure. Also, the wheel under the shelf gets quite stiff periodically, especially on the return pull, and no amount of cleaning or greasing seems to ameliorate the problem.Overall I'm still happy with my purchase, but if it stops working soon I'd feel otherwise.
